Dark brown with a small beige head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate and dark malts. Flavors of roasted malts, chocolate and roast coffee
A nice porter, tasty.
On tap @ Southern Pacific. Black pour with a khaki head. Roasted malts, cocoa powder, and lots of coffee. A hint of ash and dark fruit. Light toasted malt sweetness. Nice bitterness to the flavor. Lots of roast, coffee, and dark chocolate. A bit of ash, coffee grounds, and dark fruit. Subtle sweetness of toast and bread. Nuffield (4167) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUN 30, 2013
Dark brown/black. A good aroma with notes both of hops and smoke, a very West Coast porter. Moderately good body, placing it average to above-average on the richness scale--some porters definitely distinct from stouts and others not so much. On tap at brewpub. dchmela (3062) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Tap at brewery. Reddish black pour. Chocolate and anise in the aroma. Medium malt body with roasted grain, chocolate and tobacco in the taste. Pretty good.

Pours almost black with a thin khaki head. Pretty fizzy for a porter with a chocolatey aroma. Dry, toasty flavor without a remarkable palate. Very average and drinkable- not worth coming back to. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - DEC 2, 2012
On tap at the brewery. It pours very dark brown with a khaki head. The aroma is very chocolaty with some toast and coffee. The flavor is very dry and roasty with coffee, burnt toast and a soda pop mouthfeel. A little too fizzy, but decent flavor. A pretty standard porter. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - NOV 24, 2012
On tap at brewery. Black with a creamy tan head. Sweet roasted grain and light coffee and chocolate aroma and taste with roasted grain notes to the unfortunately watery finish and too thin palate. I’m sensing a trend here. Ratman197 (14680) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - SEP 7, 2012
On tap at Southern Pacific poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of ropastiness, bitter chocolate, mocha and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roastiness, bitter choolate and coffee with a crisp dry lingering roasty finish. steview (1037) - Petaluma, California, USA - SEP 3, 2012
When I visited this nice brewery, I sampled their Wit, Extra IPA, and this. All are good, but this was my favorite to drink. It has a very pronounced combination of chocolate, coffee, and toastiness. It’s rounded out nicely by having enough citrus and bitterness. I wouldn’t mind trying this kind of brew as a specialty -- barrel aged, etc. I wondered if it could be less bitter, more sweet.
