Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

Colour is black. Is smells of chocolate with a roasted note. Taste begins with chocolate but then quickly turns into roasted cocoa bean finish of which I found delightful. There could have been a little more to this beer but for the most part I enjoy it. We are friends now.

Bottle at home. Black pour. Aroma of light roast and chocolate. The flavor is similar, with an ashy bitter finish. Medium bodied with good lactose sweetness. Doesn’t stand out, lacks complexity.

Countbeer (6599) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - FEB 10, 2013
Bottle: Medium sized tan light brown head, changes quick in a lacing on top of a black colore beer. Aroma is mostly (toasted) malts and milk with hints of chocolate, coffee and cream. The flavour is a creamy mix of autumnal leaves, malts, leaves, light toast, bitter (keeps growing), some milk, roasted malts which are pushed to the back and dominated by the milk and cream, some toasted herbs and a sprinkle of spices. Aftertaste is bitter with some milk, malts, toast and herbs with a hint of chocolate. Low carbo, soft creamy light spicy mouthfeel, medium body and a creamy texture. Nice beer, nothing crazy, but good bitterness and drinks pretty easy.

Pours a dark brown black color with a great mocha head. Nose is chocolate malt and sweet. Taste is sugary sweet, but not overly so, malty and drinks quite easily. Finish is sweet as well, and semi dry. Quaff Score 8 / 10,
