Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called cream or sweet stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker. Surely! Of course, we couldnt stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

UPDATED: APR 21, 2015 2015-04-18. Black body with a nice creamy head, Im guessing a nitro pour. Aroma is mild, light roast character. 6+ Flavour is pleasant, light roast character throughout, moderate bitterness, hints at cocoa and green hops. Smooth bodied palate, soft carbonation. Enjoyable but just okay. 7/5/7/3-4/14 On tap at Allen Burger Venture, Buffalo.

2012-12-23. Black, modest brown head. 3+ Moderate aroma is sweet and malty, light roast and cocoa like notes, toasty malt. 7++ Flavour is fairly sweet overall, nice dark malty core, dry cocoa and roast in the finish provide enough bitterness to keep it from becoming cloying, mild sweet chocolate and light roast linger in the finish and aftertaste. 7++ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate is softly carbonated. Fairly simple, but quite enjoyable. 7/4/7/4/16 Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo

Choclatey, very hoppy stout. Very faint lactose smoothness but carbonation covers it mostly. Chocolate and coffee aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a deep black color with a frothy and thick tan head. Aroma is caramel, toast, coffee, chocolate, and a faint spruce. Taste is sweet up front then it mellows out to a nice and rich chocolate and bitter finish. Body is very creamy and slightly thick.

Southern Tiers sweet milk Stout. Named "Double" because of the two varieties of hops used. They come through nicely actually, a bit of a floral tone behind the rich malts.
