Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called cream or sweet stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker. Surely! Of course, we couldnt stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thin, half a centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, raisins, pit fruits, caramel, toffee and a hint of milk. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong lactic flavours at first with oatmeal, a bit of nuts and a ton of roasted malt and bitter cofffee notes with a little caramelised sugar sweetness on the back end. Aftertaste is a bit complex with the good sour lactic notes at first followed by a pleasant sweetness and a good deep bitter flavour with not much alcohol notes and a solid body. Overall, a nice beer - definitely one to sample as the days get shorter and the nights get chillier. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-April-2012 for US$1.65 sampled at home in Washington on 01-December-2012.

Pours black with almost no head. Aroma is chocolate and roasty malt. Taste is sweet and delicious. Surprisingly wonderful. Reminds me of 3 Floyd's Moloko but not as silky. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a coca-cola colour with some dark tan head. Aromas are milk and cream, some coconut, and as it warmed, coffee. Flavours are lactic at first, then strong roasted malts, and espresso flavours. Quite nice.

Bottle. Poured medium black with a thin tan head and good lacing. Creamy chocolate aroma with a slight vanilla undertone. Great balance of chocolate and toasted malt flavors made it not too sweet from the lactose and had a great, slightly creamy finish.

Good good - I want to drink several of these. I did expect a bigger, creamier, chewier body but this was a stout that I wished I could find at my local pub... Something to be said about that.
