Tap. Creamy tan head on a nearly black body. Lots of malted milk balls, chocolate, light roast, sweetness, and chocolate. Loads of milk lacto sweetness, chocolate, lightly toasty and some roast. Medium body with vibrant carbonation. Not bad. hellbilly (3306) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUN 12, 2012
bottle from beckley’s with born on date of 2/6/12 consumed 6/12/12.
dark and pretty much opaque with a tan head.
aroma is a lot like whoppers...malty, choco, milk, bitterness, some hazelnut-like nuttiness and a touch of coffee.
flavor is much the same... sweetish but bitter coffee-ish finish helps clean it up. it gets to tasting a little ilke peanut butter cups as it warms...with a coffee back...
creamy when sloshed around but it remains quite easy to drink. 7/4/7/4/15 Niko100 (3012) - Chicago, New York, USA - JUN 11, 2012
Dark brown/black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, cocoa, & chocolate; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, milk chocolate, hops, coffee, and some caramel; Finish is slightly bitter; Nicely balanced; Tasty stout - quite enjoyable. libertine (434) - rochester hills, Michigan, USA - JUN 8, 2012
pours black with almost no head.aroma is straight forward roasted coffee and chocolate.flavor is coffee and chocolate and is not as sweet as i thought is was going to be.maybe the bitterness tends to hide the sugars a bit.flavor reminds me of when you chew on a roasted coffee bean,it leaves that same bitterness on your tongue.low to medium carbonation with a medium body and a slick mouthfeel.very long bitter finish.cant say im dissapointed and cant say im impressed.its enjoyable but from southern tier i believe someone would expect more.the bitterness outweighs the sweetness and the flavors are not very complex. Incredibly smooth and easy to drink stout. Smooth roasted flavors, nuts, toasted bread, caramel and of course creamy milk. Light bitterness for balance.

Bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Nice pour, crisply carbonated but with the expected and anticipated heft to it. Nose was a bit reticent, with dusty baker’s chocolate and just hints of what might be beyond. Full mouthfeel, nice and smooth, but overall not as chocolatey as I’d anticipated (especially given this particular brewer) and also not especially lactic. Instead, a bitter and roasty stout with a solid chocolatey foundation. Good but wanted something a bit different. smith4498 (3697) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - JUN 3, 2012
Pours very dark brown color with tan head. Roasted malt and milk chocolate aromas. Bittersweet chocolate flavor with burnt malts and hints of coffee. Medium to full body with soft carbonation. demmbonz (784) - Erin, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 2, 2012
Weak aroma with a soapy looking head. Not very sweet. Not very anything...except 7.5%. Decent brew. Will not be memorable. barold419 (3) - - JUN 2, 2012 does not count
Good aroma and flavor.pleasant coffee taste, but could be a little sweeter. Overall a great beer. HighlanderOne (1395) - York, SC via NJ, South Carolina, USA - JUN 2, 2012
UPDATED: APR 27, 2014 Poured from bottle. Aroma of coffee and caramel. Stout black, tan head with lacing. Flavors of coffee ice cream, caramel, licorice, vanilla, a hint of cocoa and clove. Slight alcohol in back gives this a warm feel. Excellent drinkability. More dry than sweet. Good finish. Another winner from ST.
