Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

FatTony (188) - Augusta, Georgia, USA - JAN 19, 2013
12 ounce bottle- poured out a nice opaque reddish-brown with a moderate head. Aroma was a nice brown sugar and malt. Taste was brown sugar with a strong alcohol back. Palate was smooth and creamy, very nice. Just one question, Southern Tier Brewing is in...New York? This Georgia man finds that mildly disturbing...

Eight months old before I bought it. Planning? Or slow beer management? Hasn’t affected it’s quality much. Rich dark and full as you wish. Probably the first of Southern Tier’s products to bring me this much satisfaction. Yum. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2017 Stouts are my favorite. This was good, but it wasn't as strong as I would like. It has a pleasant chocolate taste with very little bitterness.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2017 Draft at Macs Tavern. Opaque very dark brown/black watery stout. Tan foam. Medium-dark roasty malts. Cold coffee. Cocoa nibs. Vanillin. Carob. Hazelnuts. Raisins. Glossy charcoal briquette finish. Would be so much better on Nitro. Allow that this may be a poor draft.

12 ounce bottle. Opaque black liquid topped by a large dense tan head. Subtle roasted malt nose hints at chocolate and dark coffee. Sweet roasted malt flavor has notes of bittersweet chocolate and robust espresso. An underlying bitterness throughout arises in finish with some resiny hops. Dry malt aftertaste. Reminiscent of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, only sweeter. skunky,
