Dark , mahogany color. Thin , off-white head. Cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg , citrus and malt in aroma . After that I expected sweet, malty bomb in taste .However , it was surprisingly bitter and balanced . Light alcohol in finish . Aroma: spices, citrus, tender and sweet malt
Taste: sweet malt is balanced by bitter hop. Spices are not annoying, they just add perfection to this beer.
Creamy and thick.

DATE TASTED: December 27, 2015... GLASSWARE: Duvel tulip...OCCASION: ... APPEARANCE: dark, ruby-brown body that is almost opaque; small, lonely bubbles are present; the head recedes to an off-white ring that suggests heavier alcohol than the normal ale provides--no lacing... AROMA: instantaneous impression of spruce, pine, and port... a second breath brings cinnamon, clove, allspice, pepper and slight hints of citrus--quite a bowl full of punch... PALATE: full-bodied, frothy, vibrant and warming, especially at the throat... a scotch-like complexity, smooth, memorable and long at the finish... TASTE: cinnamon, vanilla, allspice, chocolate, complex sugars, some dry wine, pine, and citrus suggests a punch bowl of flavors... the malts are engaging, with bread and natural elements reminiscent of a walk in the woods ...OVERALL: with quite a return for every sip, this holiday offering is sweet, strong, and slowly sippable... further, this is a seasonal whose price tag makes it even more alluring... still waiting to be disappointed by a Southern Tier offering, but it will not be tonight

Bottle from beer exchange. Pours a clear copper color. White head. Aroma of citrus and spice. Taste is on the bitter side. Just too aggressive for me.

Pours a copper from a bottle, thin quickly dissipating head. Aroma of caramel, cherry cough syrup, clove. Flavor very similar, but heavier on the clove and the cough syrup is mostly a boozy syrupiness. Good beer. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - DEC 15, 2015
Bottle from Beer and Wine. Dark amber body with faint tan head. Nose is sweet, spicy, peppery. Taste is alcy, malts, caramel, spices. Quite refresing and clean texture. Peppery and cookies in the finish. Enjoyable. tekstr1der (490) - New Hampshire, USA - DEC 12, 2015
Dark amber pour with almost no head. Aroma is overpowering coriander, nutmeg, citrus rind with a hint of cinnamon. Flavor is the same - wish I could taste fig since I love fig - but no, just a pile of spices I don’t much care for. As with other ST flavored brews, they go to the extreme with flavoring. This one’s not for me. monk191 (1975) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 7, 2015
Another nice Southern Tier beer. Like a sweet Belgian Amber, with lots of vanilla, Kahlua and some pumpkin. Nice deep Amber. Had on tap at Rattle N Hum. Johnstledger8 (1190) - Dublin, IRELAND - NOV 30, 2015
Bottle. Pours a murky mahogany red with a fading off white head. Aroma of plum, spices, red fruits, pine, orange zest, mulled wine. Taste is of cinnamon, clove, some ginger, plum, more red fruits, pine. Heavy spice flavours. Oily mouthfeel, medium carbonation.
