Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binny’s South Loop) - 06/11/12. Lightly hazed dark amber with a thin tan head that forms a pond and clears to the edge of the glass. Nose comprises Xmas cake, orange peel, spice, toffee, dark fruits, sherry trifle. Tastes of bread, cake mix, dates, clove, cinamon, a little booze. Medium bodied with bite with soft carbonation. Ok as Xmas beers go.

Bottle from jredmond. Pours clear copper with slight beige head. Aroma is juniper and mixed spice. Med body or so. Flavor is mixed - sort of pie spice mixed with twigs and/or juniper. Hence a bit woody. Interesting stuff.

Bottle. Poured a clear brown with an average frothy off-white head that was fully lasting with good lacing. Good complex spice aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy spice sweet flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Very well done.

Heavily spiced but not a bad chritmas ale, backing spice form the hops, decent malt.

Dogbrick (13389) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 16, 2012
Sample at Brews Cafe. The beer is a clear dark copper color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma is spicy with notes of malt and pine. Medium body with flavors of cinnamon, malt and dark fruit. The finish is sweetly spiced with a nutmeg and malt aftertaste. Above average all around.

j12601 (12976) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - NOV 14, 2012
Bottle. Pours a clear copper tinged brown amber with a thin beige head. Smells like warm cookies, spices and warm figs, toasty malt. Medium bodied, quite spicy. A touch of caramel, malt, toast, more spices. A bit of fig and plum, bitter spices and malt. Spices were great on the nose but come out a bit heavy handed in terms of flavor. It’s no pumpkin but it’s decent enough I guess.
