Bottle. Ruby-copper with a short, tan head. Aroma is strong spices, caramel, herbal notes and faint medicine. Taste is strong spice notes, soft booze, rich caramel, sweet malt, herbal notes, and ginger. Body is medium with a chewy feel and a moderate, dense, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with more up front spices, caramel notes, chewy malt, light booze, ginger and herbs.

On tap at Brewvolution. Brown pour with a white head. The aroma has a good bit of toffee and cinnamon to it. The flavor, on the other hand, tastes like a Christmas tree. I get a huge amount of juniper and pine as well as some allspice and cinnamon. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours a clear mahogany - not much head, but that has to be due to the pour, and it does leave some generous lacing. Strong aroma has an overtone of cloves and horehound. Flavor has a subtle malty core and strong notes of cloves, caramel and horehound with a hint of cinnamon - and is that a whisper of pumpkin? Firm texture has plenty of lively fizz, leaving a cloves-y and horehound finish. Merry Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Winter Solstice/Festivus/Human Light or whatever!

Not a fan of spiced holiday beers. Sweet alarming aroma. Orangish. Starts off better thn expected than it morphs into a volatile warm throat sensation. On finish it settles down a tad. Little co2 and somewhat mouth coating. Did not appreciate the high alky content.

Rcvd in trade. The appearance has a red/amber colored body with a thin white foamy head that must die within thirty seconds The smell has strong nutmeg and cinnamon with some added other "Christmas spices." The taste well, its actually slightly spicy through the nutmeg and cinnamon with a dry spicy aftertaste and finish. The palate has a light to medium sort of body with a decent bitter harshness trying to pound the tongue but ends up settling into the carbonation which comes across slightly smooth. Overall, I say this is a pretty good "Christmas" ale that I would have again.

Pours deep, clear mahogany into a Sam glass. White head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet cinnamon and nutmeg aromas. Medium bodied with sweet dark caramel and nutmeg upfront turning to cinnamon toast in the lasting warming finish.

ganache (6050) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 18, 2012
Bottle. Nose has spice and some sweet cherry wine, heaviest spicing from the nutmeg, some all-spice perhaps?. Pours deep blood red with a scant light brown head. Dry and lightly scratchy, dark earthy notes under very mild cherry/clove with a flight of dominant spice on top. Not getting any orange peel or ginger like others below. Medium-fullish body, warms slowly, alcohol well-integrated. Could have fooled me and called it a pumpkin beer.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/31/2012. Pours lightly hazy ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, fig, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of malt, fruit, and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, fig, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, light anise, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, orange peel, brown sugar, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light anise, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of malt, fruit, and spice flavors; with a great sweetness/spice balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice spiced Christmas ale! Great balance and complexity of malt, fruit, and spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
