Tap. Pours deep, dark brown with thin, beige head; short retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is nutmeg, cinnamon, dates, figs, earthy hops, toasted malt, and light caramel. Flavor is toast malt forward with heavy spice, dark fruit esters, and faint hops; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation. altonbrownd (5898) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - DEC 15, 2015
Bottle from Beer and Wine. Dark amber body with faint tan head. Nose is sweet, spicy, peppery. Taste is alcy, malts, caramel, spices. Quite refresing and clean texture. Peppery and cookies in the finish. Enjoyable. thornecb (5881) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 6, 2012
Pours deep, clear mahogany into a Sam glass. White head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet cinnamon and nutmeg aromas. Medium bodied with sweet dark caramel and nutmeg upfront turning to cinnamon toast in the lasting warming finish. ganache (5854) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 18, 2012
Bottle. Nose has spice and some sweet cherry wine, heaviest spicing from the nutmeg, some all-spice perhaps?. Pours deep blood red with a scant light brown head. Dry and lightly scratchy, dark earthy notes under very mild cherry/clove with a flight of dominant spice on top. Not getting any orange peel or ginger like others below. Medium-fullish body, warms slowly, alcohol well-integrated. Could have fooled me and called it a pumpkin beer. cheap (5798) - Beaver Valley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 9, 2014
Not a fan of spiced holiday beers. Sweet alarming aroma. Orangish. Starts off better thn expected than it morphs into a volatile warm throat sensation. On finish it settles down a tad. Little co2 and somewhat mouth coating. Did not appreciate the high alky content.

Pours a clear mahogany - not much head, but that has to be due to the pour, and it does leave some generous lacing. Strong aroma has an overtone of cloves and horehound. Flavor has a subtle malty core and strong notes of cloves, caramel and horehound with a hint of cinnamon - and is that a whisper of pumpkin? Firm texture has plenty of lively fizz, leaving a cloves-y and horehound finish. 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/31/2012. Pours lightly hazy ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, fig, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of malt, fruit, and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, fig, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg, light anise, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, orange peel, brown sugar, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light anise, floral, brown bread, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of malt, fruit, and spice flavors; with a great sweetness/spice balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice spiced Christmas ale! Great balance and complexity of malt, fruit, and spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 12, 2013
12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours deep amber with a thick, beige head. Aroma of spices and fruit cake, plus a little caramel malts and floral notes. Flavor the same. Average texture. Interesting, but not for me. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - DEC 8, 2012
12 oz bottle from ABC Liquors in Spring Hill. Pours a hazy copper brown with a tan head. Nose is gingerbread with hints of allspice, pepper, and yeast. Flavor is gingerbread with some pepper, some spice, and some toasted malt. Light to medium in body and nice with a strange yeastiness to it.

12 oz. Clear copper with a lasting small spit of bubbles. Nose is nutmeg, sharp cardamom and clove, and maybe some spruce resin. Taste is a big overdose of cardamom, clove, licorice and other spices. Long after taste shows some nice hints of citrus, resin and molasses and is the only tolerable part of the beer. Unfortunately the front taste is such a spice bomb that it couldn’t even be blended into another beer to save them both. Worst winter seasonal ever.
