COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2XSMASH is the newest in our line of single malt and single hop India Pale Ales, brewed with Mosaic hops and Special pale malt. Even simplified to one variety of hop and one type of malt, it is amazing how complex the flavor is. Mosaic hops are known for their luxurious tropical citrus notes like passionfruit and work absolutely brilliantly with the richness of Special pale malt. Cheers!

12 ounce bottle. Bright honey gold is topped by a moderate rocky beige head an great lacing. Nice spicy hop nose hints at mango, grass and lime zest. Upfront, flavor is robust with notes of toasted malt, berry, tropical fruit and bubblegum. Wonderfully complex and spicy. Some boozy notes in finish. Quite tasty.

Draft at Ithaca Ale House. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves a shitload of lacing in the glass. Has some citrus notes on the nose. Lots of grass and floral notes on the tongue along with the malt. Finished clean. Solid double IPA.

12 oz can from Plaza Liquor in KC. Clear golden to yellow appearance with a fluffy, lingering beige head. Pleasant aroma of tropical/citrus fruit, zesty hops, pine, toasted malt and a touch of herbal spice. Similar flavor, fruity hops lead to a mild resinous bitterness and are balanced by a mild grainy sweetness. Medium to full body with a slight syrupy feel. Decent DIPA overall.

DATE: May 21, 2017... OCCASION: Having celebrated Joeys seventh birthday, I pick a beer whose name sounds like what the Cavs have done to the Celtics in Games 1 and 2... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... pours a caramel amber body with a bevy of bubbles to promise freshness and flavor... the head rings as a finger of intricate lacing on the glass, with a thin covering of white on the surface... and then the mosaic hits--raspberry, passion fruit, mango, grapefruit, pine, and herbal aromas that demand repeated sniffs... the orange and lemon citrus exist as well.... substantial mouthfeel, with a buzzing at the teeth, a smooth transition to the throat, and a mellow, almost anti-climactic finish... at 8.1%, a bit unassuming... flavor profile is as promised--berry, pine, grapefruit, mango, and a pleasing, easy bitterness... another hop-forward mind blow from the peeps at Southern Tier... a beer worth sipping and turning over... the single hop thing--at first a seeming fad--allows a palate to hone in on the unique qualities of a versatile hop like the mosaic... as part of the Overpackd fifteener, wow--a win among other worthy casemates...

Hazy straw bottle pour with off-white head. Mosaic hops are evident with wonderful aroma of piney hops, mango, grapefruit. Nice rich taste, smooth, hefty on the tongue, with big resiny hops, grapefruit, black pepper, and a hoppy finish. Another first class beer from Southern Tier!

12-ounce bottle pours clear orange with a monster off-white soap-bubble head. Aroma: malt, nuts, citrus. Flavor: toasted malt, blood orange, pine needles, toast, pineapple. Mouthfeel: rich, savory, yet with a very dry finish and still seemingly light. Drinkable in large quantities, despite the high alcohol percentage.

Pours clear orange with a lot of carbonation and foam. The aroma is spicy, bright citrus. I dont pick up on much, malt-wise, in the aroma. The malt is very subtle on the flavor. This thing is all about the mosaic hop load that dominates the tongue front to back. Slightly dank, bitter, with pine and floral character, pepper and garlic notes, and a slightly oily mouthfeel. Pretty good.

Delivered in a mail delivery no knowledge, no alliegeance. Really a very fine presentation. Pop the cap of the 12 oz. bottle and take it from there. A nice grapefruit and pine scent. It tastes of juniper, lime and a little something metallic. Quite full of hop effect. Typically a very good brew containing Mosaic hops. I have found beers with Mosaic have been appreciated significantly more. Nice, nice. Jumps up and down on my taste buds. Pretty swell.
