From bottle, Papsoes blindtasting #24. Pours deep dark brown to black with a small tan head. Dense dark and powdery chocolate aroma. Sweet and dense chocolate flavoured, vanilla too. Powderish. Bottled. A deep red beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of chocolate - seemingly poor quality. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of chocolate on a malty background, leading to a dry chocolaty finish. joergen (27984) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 20, 2009

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Theis/BrianK. Clear dark brown with a distinct reddish hue. Small off-white head. Distinct chocolate aroma - artificial? Medium body, hard roasted malt and again very distinct notes of chocolate and cocoa. Fairly malt bitter finish. 010509 omhper (24979) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - FEB 27, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2012 Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Almost black, no head. Powerful chocolate sauce aroma with a touch of vanilla. Very sweet and extremely syrupy with hard metallic, yet sticky mouthfeel. Flavour is chocolate sauce, chocolate sauce and chocolate sauce. It’s near full bodied, but with the most simplistic body you can imagine. Finishes with more chocolate sauce. I’ve tasted beers before that I could imagine would go well with vanilla ice-cream, but this is the first that requires it. Probably the most one-dimensional 11% beer ever made. Oh well, Souther Tier is constantly putting out this type of gimmicky underwhelming big beers. To me they are the most overrated brewer on Ratebeer, and this is their most overrated beer. A nip of this would be fine - it’d be like a cheap, sticky chocolate brandy. A bomber is way out - something I’d never dream of finishing.

Opaque black beer. Low carbonation. Soft silky smooth beer. Immediate and strong dark and milk chocolate. Some lactose sweetness. A little bitter fresh hop in the smooth chocolate finish keeps things interesting! Southern Tier, definitely one of my favourite US brewers!
Dark maroon that light penetrates easily. Brown head that disappears completely and leaves scant lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate and vanilla. Flavor is Hershey bar and chocolate covered cherries, medium body, dryish and bitter finish. More chocolate than beer.
