COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
a stout of great contention We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; its all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crme Brle, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 9.6% abv 25 plato 195 L 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

From start to finish this is a great bire dessert. The smell of burnt vanilla, the bourbony caramel caf taste, and smooth finish; too bad its not in smaller size, oh well, find someone to share.

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a moderate tan head. Aroma is largely vanilla with some toffee, caramel, and sugar. Taste is vanilla, toffee, caramel, and cream. Lightly bitter roast finish with some lingering caramel sweetness. Medium body. Barely any carbonation. Mouthfeel is a little light for an imperial stout but it is pleasantly coating; smooth and sticky.

Something else and dessert-like. Aromas and flavors of cream, roasted malt, caramelized sugar with a mild sweetness. Really dark and smooth.

Pours dark black with light white head. Aroma of burnt Carmel and vanilla. Taste is a touch bitter, mostly from a really burnt carmel flavor. Very malty with strong vanilla carmel flavors. Aftertaste has a lot of burnt carmel to it. Don't like the bitterness. If the bitterness was gone, it would be smoother and better allowing more flavor to come through. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smells like sweet sticky caramel and cream. Nice dead of night black color with one finger head thick lacing on the glass. Taste is awesome with butter toffee sugar cookies sweet cream caramels molasses slightly burnt bitter ending. Full thick creamy body with flattish carbonation with smooth tacky finish. Awesome stout but definitely more desert then every day drinkers stout but still tasty none the less. Nice job on that brew.

December 28, 2016. Bottle, courtesy of tkrjukoff, thanks!
Dark brown, almost black with a medium sized frothy tan head. Aroma is intense sweet and sugary with vanillin, caramel, milk chocolate and some licorice notes. Taste is sweet. Medium to full bodied bodied, soft carbonation. Finish is sweet with dark sugar, caramel, vanilla and milk chocolate.
The creme brule is there but its too sweet and the vanilla is over the top.

Had on tap in London - absolutely delicious - pudding in a glass. Viscous, sweet, strong - creamy vanilla caramel taste.

12 oz bottle. Pours very dark brown/black with a 1/2 finger mocha head which dissipates rapidly. Aroma is a a vanilla sugar bomb with a hint of chocolate. Taste is vanilla sweetness and milk chocolate, but very one note. Medium body with decent mouthfeel. Overall, this vanilla bomb was a bit too much for me. I prefer my big stouts with a little more complexity.

Bottle a few years old now. This has held up much better than Id thought. Deep black with light brown edges. Nose is massive vanilla, lightly toasted caramel. Taste is quite sweet, cloying. Flavor of creme brle. As youd expect they nail the nose and flavor on this but ultimately, just to rich for more than a couple of ounces.

Never thought of a dessert beer but one never knows enough. Pours dark as night. Sweet, strong vanilla flavor. Creamy and full bodied. A nice after dinner beer for the winter by the fireplace.

From bottle. Pours an almost pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma has baileys, dooleys, dumle, vanilla, candy, cream caramel, toffee, cacao milk, light roast. Taste is sweet, candy... All candy! And then a pretty roasty finish. Average carbonation and a medium full body.
