Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy reddish-amber color with a small, resilient off-white head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, raisins, bourbon, toasted oak, brown sugar, figs, and cream. Flavor hit all the same notes. Medium-full bodied, with a smooth, sweet, mildly boozy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Rich, tasty, and smooth. Not as boozy as others have indicated. Maybe an older vintage was on or something. I recently tried the Oak Aged version and this is a much better treatment.
Tap at hopcat gr, Aroma of sweet fruits and bourbon, taste is very sweet- bourbon, caramel, vanilla, and oak blend wonderfully with sweet fruits. Very balanced and very good. alliance100 (1152) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 17, 2015

Bottle. Pours a crystal mahogany color with a nice, off white head. Loaded aroma with berries and smoked malt. Not very overpowering. Smooth taste. You can sense the barrel age in the taste of the malt. Brown sugar mixed in with some cherries. Complex taste. Alcohol is masked. Once again, Southern Tier keeps impressing me. nuplastikk (6289) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 7, 2014
Bottle shared. Ruby red-body. Foamy off-white head. Mild big malt tones, the oak really smooths it all out. Really smooth and mellow for the ABV. Easy going, balanced. Nice! Jimsal27 (291) - New York, USA - NOV 19, 2013
Poured copper with a white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, booze. Sweet malt flavor with hints of honey and oak. Almost to sweet. Creamy mouthfeel with slight carbonation. Excellent barley wine.

On tap at Dexters a while back, pours a clear dark amber with an off white head and some lacing in the glass, the aroma was really sweet, a little more than I was expecting, some of the bourbon and oak comes through as well, the flavor has a lot of bourbon character on the front end with some dark fruit and caramel in the finish, really thick and full, pretty nice though, just a huge freaking beer. hopheadsbrew (142) - Illinois, USA - JUN 16, 2013
