COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“the ancients called it ‘food for the gods’“ The Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya, unfolds a complex web of mystery around a beverage known as xocoatl (ch-co-atle). At Southern Tier, we’re not surprised that hieroglyphs of the ancient Maya depict chocolate being poured for rulers and gods. Even through the many voyages of Columbus, the mystical bean remained nothing more than a strange currency of the native peoples. Moving through centuries, the circular journey of cacao has been realized in our brewing house, encompassing the complexity of the darkest, bitter-sweet candy together with the original frothy cold beverage of the ancient Maya to bring to you our Blackwater Series Choklat Stout. We have combined the finest ingredients to tempt your senses & renew the power & interrelation of history in every bottle.

Bottle frOm wegman’s on Niagara Blvd. pours deep dark murky tan, small tan head that reduces to a small cap with light lacing. Nose is rich with chocolate. The choclate seems to hit your palate before the beer does. Smooth and rich with cocoa goodness. This is a fine brew.

Very thick and black with little to no head. Aroma a wonderful blend of milk, chocolate and vanilla with some dark roasty earthy notes. Excellent bitter sweet chocolate and vanilla taste. Also very creamy and milky. Great dessert beer. So thick and rich it would be hard to finish if it wasn’t for the fact it is so delicious.

Pours an almost gloopy motor oil black. Huge Belgian chocolate notes with hints of vanilla and coffee. Very similar to Young’s Double Chocolate.

This is one incredible beer! If you like chocolate, malty, sweet, coffee bean taste, this is the right beer. There is this spicy taste to it that really puts this beer over the top. One of the best I have ever had.

Biroholik (1374) - Sosnowiec, Poland, POLAND - APR 4, 2017
?Ekstrakt: 25% wag.
Słody: Karmelowy, Jęczmienny, Czekoladowy
Dodatki: Słodko-gorzka belgijska czekolada, naturalne aromaty
Chmiele: Chinook, Wilamette
Data butelkowania: 23.09.2016
Kolor: Czarny, nieprzejrzysty.
Wkrótce opadła do zera. Chyba pierwszy raz w życiu nalałem piwo pod rant szkła. W szkle wygląda po prostu przepięknie.
Zapach: Wow! Nie wierzę w to co czuję! Najbardziej czekoladowy aromat ever. Miliony pralinek czekoladowych, słodko-gorzka belgijska czekolada, miazga kakaowa, melasa, kakao, cukier muskovado. Zajebiste!
Alkohol? Jaki alkohol?
Wysycenie: Niskie do średniego.
Podsumowanie:
Miazga!

Heavy aroma of chocolate, pralines, cocoa - smells like a dessert (maybe too much like a dessert - so much it feels artificial). As it warms up notes of tiramisu appear. Taste is sweet with some bitterness to counter it. Carbonation could have been lower. On the other hand it’s smooth and dense - liquor-like. Great beer although it could have had a bit less of artificial flavors (at least that’s what I think these are).

This beer is rich, kind of bitter, and absolutely brings the full force of its chocolate flavor, but man is it smooth as you finish it. If you’re not a stout person (I’m not), it may be hard to drink an entire pint (I had it with a flight), but what I did have was very encouraging.

22 ounce bottle poured to snifter black, dark amber on edges, brown foam that slowly goes away fragrant, chocolate, roasted nuts and fruity medium bitterness long good bitter finish, bitter sweet aftertaste, no sudden drop excellent beer ok to repeat, look for a bit expensive drank: February 10, 2017 11:33 PM

Pours dark brown/black with an amazing chocolate aroma. It’s a big beer but the finish isn’t like a dessert beer.

Intense chocolate, dark toasted malts, sweet pralines, moist, dark chocolate. Black, medium, creamy, beige head. Medium sweet. More very intense chocolate, milk and pralines, cacao, soft carbonation, full bodied, more chocolate in the finish. Beautiful, ridiculously chocolaty, intense but works very well. Bottle from Discount Liquor, Milwaukee.

Bottle from Brewdog online, back In the day. I don’t usually do memory rates but this one I distinctly remember. A luminous thick dark black brown coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is big dark choc, coco, powdered chocolate, sweet chocolate notes. Big dessert beer. Would be good on vanilla ice cream. Flavour is composed of big rounded smooth roast dark choc, sweet chocolate malts. Hints of coconut, . Palate is milky, medium full bodied, moderate carbonation, creamy. Lovely dessert beer.
