Bottle pours red with off-white head. Aroma of flowers. Flavors of pine, vanilla, bubble gum, and cherries with a strong astringent finish. The cherry flavors begin as marischino and changes more to a bing cherry and it lingers on the tongue. porterhouse (1580) - Boothbay, Maine, USA - MAR 6, 2011
(22 oz. bottle from Bootleggers) Pours dark reddish/bronze amber with half a finger of light bronze-amber head. Aroma of caramel, sort of rotting vegetable and/or peat, maybe...not quite sure what this smells like. Some wood in there. Odd really. Mouthfeel is kind of thick and sticky but smooth. Woody smoothness. Syrupy film and light foamy dabs melt down the inside of the snifter. Flavor is kind of boozy sweet and dark caramelly with a heavy organic note that is escaping me for description. Woody/oaky without the vanilla. Pretty hot. I dunno. Another big, hard to describe but fairly in your face ASA. smith4498 (3670) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - MAR 5, 2011
Had this back to back with the Series 2. Tasted pretty much identical. Pours clear reddish brown color with thin tan head. Aromas of dark fruits, caramel, vanilla and oak. Sweet caramel and plum flavors with vanilla and a hint of oak. Alcohol is pretty well hidden for 11%. Medium to full body with minimal carbonation and a syrupy body. Glad to get to try this after having found the first two and then not seen this one for some time. Having said that, the sum was less than the parts. Pretty deep clear red appearance. Aroma was a bit of vanilla and caramel, with some odd floral hops on the finish. Flavor was caramel, a bit of vanilla, and that was about it. A bit too much bitterness on the finish. Just didn’t quite get the depth of flavor here. Perhaps a couple of years in the bottle would assist. sebletitje (10282) - Enghien, BELGIUM - FEB 23, 2011
Pression @ mellow mushroom, Tampa.

Draft at World of Beer in Hyde Park/Tampa. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet candied sugars, plums, cherry, nutmeg and other spices. Flavor is also pretty sweet but theres enough contrast with the spices, oak, and heat...brown sugar, plums, raisins, oak. Full bodied, decent heat. Overall this was very good. lamas (1651) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 13, 2011
22 oz. bottle. I was beginning to think this wasn’t coming out. A clear ruby red/amber pour with a smallish beige head. A very sweet aroma of Red Delicious apples, pears, plums, bananas, candied sugar, vanilla extract, oak, lemons, and plenty of spiciness. Goes down fairly medium-bodied and syrupy. The taste is quite sweet all the way through, but only gets a little cloying by the end. Red Delicious apples, pears, plums, bananas, and candied sugar start things off taste-wise. An oaky middle with some vanilla extract and a little toasted coconut. A touch of lemon at the very end. A mildly drying finish. Warming alcohol and some almond liqueur-like qualities are present throughout. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 12, 2011
This poured a murky brown color with a small off white head. Aroma was lots of very sweet dark fruits and some brown sugar. Flavor was lots of barrel, sweet pineapple and cream, and some caramel too. Interesting flavor but very cloying and sweet. topherh (1929) - Kearney, Missouri, USA - FEB 8, 2011
Pours ruby with a small off white head. Aroma of fruity apples, pears and spice. Flavor is very sweet, sugary mixed fruit juices, light oakiness. cbkschubert (2901) - BFE, Arizona, USA - FEB 6, 2011
22 oz. bottle via trade with tytoanderso - Pours a clear mahogany color with a 1/2 finger thick light tan head. Faint spotty lacing. Aroma and flavor is full of esters and toasted malt. Didn’t get much oak. The esters really linger in the finish. Medium to full body. A good beer, but not as good as the first two. Thanks Tyler. GO STEELERS!
