According to Greek mythology, the twins Castor and Pollux are said to have been hatched from one egg. What a crazy story! We’re more apt to believe in alien intervention and UFOs. You have, something a little less far fetched. At Southern Tier Brewing Company, heavily hopped beer have been out calling card since Unearthly made its debut in 2006. Gemini is a super hopped ale with six varieties of hops blasting flavor and zapping bitterness in every direction.

Hazy orange amber beer, decent pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, sweet caramel. Sweetish piney hops. Light hop spice. Touch of ripe orange marmalade. Spicy orange, Smooth finish. Spicy linger. Most disappointing, Initially I thought this must be an old bottle but there is enough hop markers here to indicate that is not that case. Sweetish and disjointed.

Not has hoppy as I was excited for, especially when it says "6 types of hops" It’s okay, nothing that’s going to blow your mind. It’s very malty smelling as soon as you pop the top. There’s a slight fresh hoppy aroma but it’s just dominated by sweet maltiness. Taste is the same. Nothing but malt, hardly any hops. Overall, I’ll pass.

Looking back at my rating for the Gemini recipe pre-2014, I think that version was a tad better. This most certainly isn’t bad, but just not as good. This Gemini pours a light amber color with a bright orange hue. The head is off-white, forms lots of foam and leaves a sticky lace around the inside of the glass. The nose is malty and sweet, with fruity hops and bread notes. The body is very smooth, silky and very drinkable. The hops lend mostly fruity and sweet flavors instead of bitter, tropical and dry. The sweet and bready maltiness is quite present in the flavors as well. I tasted quite a bit of grape of in the finish, with some boozy notes too.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Publix Supermarket - 22 oz bomber. Pours a sparkling medium orange withe a creamy, sticky white head that leaves a nice coat of lacing. Aroma has some light spruce accents, a bit of maple syrup sweetness. Flavor is sweet with some very light citrus, juicy fruit gum, some honeydew melon, a hint of maple syrup and a touch of hard candy sweetness. Mouthfeel is syrupy in a good way. Comparing my notes to the former Gemini, the earlier one was a bit more subtle and sharper.

Rich honeycomb, caramel, oak, and pineapple nose, fabulous! Clear amber, medium yellow head, good lacing. Honey and lemon, grass finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation.

Slightly hazy, amber color . Nice, white head. Aroma of pine , honey and tropical fruits. Aggressive bitterness from the start, balanced by honey-like sweetness. Bitterness in aftertaste is less intense . Decent DIPA.

Got this as a Christmas gift from my beer snob sin. He made a great choice. Pours an amber color with light head. Citrus and grapefruit flavors with mild to mid hops. Leaves a nice flavor onbthe plait.

Bottle from my brother. Nice hop aroma leads into much deeper, robust taste. Fruity, slick, nice slippery body. Very smooth for a DIPA.

$6.99 Bomber from Market Street Wine Shop uptown. Pours a pretty peach color, hazy with a nice beige head. Aroma of sweet citrus and toasted malt. Taste is thick citrus, floral hops, roasted malt, pine. Bittersweet.

Bottle. Clear light rust orange. Citrus, grapefruit rind and juicy old school hops with down malt sweetness in the aroma. Pine and grapefruit rind with some malty sweetness that’s not overly so. Medium body. Maybe I’m being nostalgic but this is very good. Better than the old version and certainly not new school but made really well. Fun.
