COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPAs namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Pours sparkling medium amber with a rocky white head. Aroma is of carmel, and heavy piney/grassy and grapefruit hop aroma. Flavor is well balanced, was hoping for a little more hops, but the hop flavor it did have was of floral/perfume . Light to medium bodied, watery and softly carbonated.

Bottle from a mixed 12-pack. Hoppy, but not overly so, a hint of citrus flavour adds some "zip" and contributes to the brews "refreshing" quality. Definitely will have this beer again.

[484-20070803] Bottle (w/ jerc). Citrus peel hops, wheatie with a hint of feet. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Citrus peel zest hops with a lot of bitterness and a hint of bandaids. Medium body, finish is super dry and bitter. Prefer a sweeter taste but this is otherwise a nice hoppy beer.

12 oz bottle. Bright clear copper with a medium white head. Herbal, citrusy hop nose with some grass and tea (aroma intensity: medium). Flavor starts with some caramel then plenty of citrus/orange/grapefruit and pine. Taste like a mix of cascade and noble hops. Has some unique-ness...perhaps the plesant tea-like hop character that Ive picked up on Southern Tiers hop-focused brews (such as UnEarthly IIPA) - which is interesting, because I usually dont dig tea-like character in my IPAs but Southern Tier makes it work somehow. Medium body/viscosity with moderate carbonation. Very quaffable. Very nice session IPA.

355 mL bottle. Copper orange with only a spotty film of head. Smells almost exactly like their "Extraordinary Ale" - perhaps even (floral) hoppier. Taste is more balanced than I expected; although it clearly tilts towards the hoppy end of the scale, there is a thin malty sweetness detectable as the beer hits the tongue. Hops give both floral and citrus flavours, as well as a lasting bitter finish. Beer is a little thin, with average carbonation. Alcohol is hidden well; Id never guess it was this strong. Not bad, but Ive had better IPAs.

Bottle, pours amber with a small head witch is mostly diminishing and fair lacing. The aroma is of citrus hops. The flavor is also of citrus hops. The body is light to medium with a watery and creamy texture and lively carbonation. It is a average IPA, nothing to special about it.

Garden fresh hop aroma, with state fair caramel apple in support. Taste is overbalanced towards floral and herb hops , bitterness is there but low for an IPA. Seems like they were going for an English IPA,and went a little nuts with aroma hops. Nicely done, thanks Kingpin

Southern Tier IPA 12 oz bottle Recent brewing, enjoyed 07/07 Moderate pour in a mug. Poured a clear amber with a moderate fizzy white somewhat diminishing head. Smelt of moderate green hops, spruce and grass. Taste was upfront moderate bitter green hops and light sweet caramel malt followed by more of the same, althought the bitter hops are a bit more accented, on a moderate to long finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, lively carbonated, slightly oily and moderately astringent. Overall, a very good IPA that is up to par. Pleasant and drinkable.

Medium dark amber with a decent head. Smell is great, all hops. Taste is very smooth, crisp hops. Nice little bitter aftertaste. Solid ala round brew. Thanks for this one beagle.
