COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPAs namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Easy drinkin' IPA. Deep amber with 2" fluffy head, good lacing. Taste was thick and full of sweet and bready malts. The hops were citrus and mixed well with a fruity flavor. Tasty.

Clear orange color, very mild carbonation (poured nearly flat), this IPA has a moderately hoppy flavor. This is a good session drinking beer, not an over the top IPA

Bottle, clear ambery pour. Hoppy, citric rindy aroma, with some malt character - but the hops are the nose. More citric piney hop flavors predominantly, with caramel crystal malt backbone. The hop flavors themselves struck me as a little harsh, and notes of alcohol came through as well. Decent IPA.

Quality IPA. Enjoyed at a bar in Syracuse. Not the best Ive had, but nice hops and worth the taste.

Slightly hazy amber color with an off-white head that dissipates before you notice there was one. Aroma, hmm... First a thought its all about the hops but then realized its not about hops at all. Well, naturally hops are on the front but not in the west coast style. Theres also some caramel and cookie-type of maltiness in the aroma and what strikes me most, tea. Buttery malts, some easy-going fruity hops and again, tea dominate the flavor. This is probably not a fresh bottle but I could have used a stronger malt backbone and more aggressive hops. I wasnt too impressed with this IPA

12 oz bottle: Very hazy, coppery amber w/ a lasting cream colored thin head. Aromas start w/ a cedary wood and lemony citrus hop as well as a bit soapy when chilled. Toaste malt and very little caramel @ first, but it becomes stronger as it warms. Very light fruitiness. Balance is to just bitter from start to finish. Malt profile is of toasty and caramel flavors up front and in the middle, but the finish is bitter and citrusy hop flavored. Aftertaste is a good balance of hops and toasty malt. Again, very little fruitiness. Medium body/w lower med. carb. and a dry m/f. An average IPA that doesnt really stand out in a crowd.

Clean looking beer. Hoppy scent with some floral aroma. Flavor is mostly hops with a biscuity malt hint and a dry sweet finish.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2006 On tap at Olde Dublin Inn, Clifton Park NY. Good IPA colouring but a shade more amber than copper. A good representation of IPA, but with an over-bitter finish. Proud to call it a NY State beer.

Bot. Good orange citrus sweet aroma. Pretty, clea amber beer with tight offwhite head. Unsweetened bitter grapefruit flavor. Palate has a tinge of the metallic, good puckery bitter finish.

Bad label, bad cap. Brownish amber, thin lacy head. An interesting aroma - at first very loud hops, then settling out to a pleasant caramel. Herbal tones, medium-light sweetness, med heavy bittering, caramel, a bit of roastiness. Medium body. A grassy, malty finish. Pretty good. Definite NY craftbrew specimen.
