For the love of Hops.I adore this beer, from the citrus notes on the nose to the absolute punch you get from the hopped barrage that you get when first sipped. You’ll understand. JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 28, 2003
I was very impressed with this offering. Citrusy pine aroma greets you as pop this one open. Pours a beautiful clear amber with a nice head. Continuous lacing as you imbibe this well balanced beauty. Nice spicy finish. This southern NY beer rivals any west coast beer. Papillon (426) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 24, 2009
UPDATED: APR 26, 2009 355 mL Bottle. The label states 6, not 6.5 octane as stated in this RB listing. Deep gold body with a frothy slightly off-white head that settles to a thin but tenacious rocky layer that laces the sides beautifully and leaves a "set of foam ribs" down the sides of the glass with every sip. Resiny hops dominate the intense aroma with notes of pine, grass, grapefruit rind, and floral. Flavor! What a slap in the tongue! Hops, hops, hops, oh... what shall we celebrate with this one? A hoppy birthday? Well mine is not until July but I have this beer marked to have instead of a birthday cake. The intense hops do make way for the rich sweet malt and crystal malt that express right away after the swallow with fruity hints and a note of grapefruit. Intense yet not complicated. The hop bitter expresses in the aftertaste and then lingers in the finish in an astringent way that... get me another one, now! This beer rocks and rolls! Hey you brewers down there the other side of Lake Erie: you can make some top-notch beer and you’ve proven it with this one. Southern Tier, I’ve been to your website and I look forward to sampling more of your excellent beers. Keep up the great work :D Hammy78 (975) - Dundas, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 14, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2011 330ml bottle sample purchased at the LCBO. Pours a golden yellow with amazing carbonation, and a nice pillowy white head. and decent lacing. Aroma is of hops and it is strong. Taste is also of hops, but also of citrus. Just amazing. Twentys (41) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - OCT 9, 2005
Had on tap at Benchwarmer’s in Ithaca, NY. Smells/tastes of super citrus, harshly & deliciously bitter. A mouthfull of a beer. Great lacing.

Southern Tier IPA is a hazy sienna ale with a small white head with oily bubbles. It leaves good lacing. The aroma is very fresh. It smells like wort being boiled. It’s mostly citrusy centennial hops with sweet caramel underneath. Medium-full bodied and velvety smooth, it leaves the tongue smooth and cleanly. It has a nice piney flavor. It is citrusy and resiny, grassy and a little sweet. The bitterness is strong and in balance with everything else. The aftertaste is faint and of citrus peel and evergreen trees. This is a great example of an American IPA. Uglyradio (791) - Greenville, South Carolina, USA - AUG 1, 2009

What in the hell? This is fucking amazing! Who in the hell do these folk think they are? Obviously i have never had to many good IPA’s, but this is fucking incredible! It poured out a golden orange, light yellow head. Smellt of grass, sweet bread dough, marijuana, and tasted just the same! The balance was perfect, it went down so well. Cheers to a well crafted beer! unclemattie (4357) - Georgia, USA - MAY 10, 2010

Tap @ TacoMac, Alpharetta. Dark orange color, White head. Sticky, sticky. Aroma of huge citrus hops. Nice caramels, and sticky. Flavor is a heavy bodied, sweet and sticky malt. Toasted caramels. All hidden beneath a nicely hopped bitterness. Lots of grapefruit, pine, and oily hops. A very huge IPA. Absolutely lovely. Drinker’s beware: Do not have two of these on a completely empty stomach. It hit me hard. Very yummy, 40oz of yummy. and heavy. YUM, this is my new favorite IPA.
Bottle 330ml. Exceptional IPA. Aromas of grass, caramel, honey, and nuts. Taste starts sweet, with bitterness taking over for a very long finish. Palate is almost creamy, with a medium body. Amber, with a frothy white head.
