IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Pours out an amber brown. Doughy aromas with some slight notes of grass. Sweeter flavors of bread and coffee with a slightly bitter finish.

Bottle.Pours a clear gold with an off-white head. Nice combination of hoppiness and malt sweetness in the taste and aroma.

I got this in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John!

It pours a clear(turns hazy with second pour) yellow gold with a huge head of foam that keeps trying to overflow in my glass so naturally, I had to make a save. The foam tastes nice. Awesome head retention and the lacing is heavy duty for the style.

I get some bready notes in the smell as well as some hop bitterness. More of a floral hop bitterness than any citrus/grass/pine but again, it's nice.

The first sip and I see this a well balanced IPA. Plenty of bready malt to go with a slightly bitter lemon hop presence. After taking a few more sips, the hops become more citrusy and I think I'm tasting some tangerine but don't quote me on that but they don't overpower the malt at all. Very well balanced and very smooth and easy drinking. A little high in alcohol to be a real session brew but what the hell...it's pretty sessionable for me.

The mouthfeel is medium, the carbonation is on the light side, and it finishes with a semi sweet semi bitter flavour that kind of reminds me of Bridgeport IPA which...I like!

Bottom line: A very tasty, well balanced American IPA that I can recommend. Another nice brew from Southern Tier.

Bottle obtained in variety 12-case of IPAs on road trip through NY. Great tasting IPA. Balanced taste of malt sweetness and hoppiness. Worthy of a second glass or more

pours golden amber with white fluffy head that last. the aroma is resin, grapefruit, pine, and earthy, with some citrus. the flavor is citrus with small amount of grapefruit, and alot of resin and pine. Some lighter caramel through. the palate leaves bitterness at the end and some lingering flavors. overall well balanced and quite refreshing at 7.3% hidden well.

Too sweet and not hoppy or bitter enough...hard to reach minimum character length with beers you don’t like...

I’ve had the southern tier 2xipa’s and thought they were great tasting....
Gotta watch because they will sneak up on you.
The regular southern tier is a little less hoppy but very tasty....loved it!

Bottle from MGM (sorry, small business owners). Consumed in a beautiful Bent Paddle glass. Attractive golden orange hue. Nice white attractive head. Nose is a blend of pine and citrus rind. Definitely makes you excited for a high quality IPA. Taste is a well balanced with a stronger malt presence than others in the style. Pleasant hop overtone without bringing much bitterness to the table. Resiny mouthfeel. Very drinkable with a little alcohol presence that hits home towards the end. Great brewery.

Quick3Beers (1461) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 21, 2016
Pours an amber from a bottle. Aroma is of vomit and tropical fruit. Thankfully, only the fruit and a big bitterness is conveyed in the mouth. Good beer.

golden, clear, sparkling, frothy, white foam, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body, full body, average carbonation, bitter,

Draft at Buffalo Marriott. Very little aroma. Amber color with white head that lingers nicely, good lacing. Nice malt balance, smooth hoppiness, a little citrus flavor. Not a hop bomb. Med to full mouthfeel, smooth. Overall, a very drinkable IPA, more in the style of a British IPA. I like it!
