COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. Nicholas, aka Santa Claus, is a magical figure, the bringer of gifts and an icon of holiday spirit. Forgotten by most is his evil side kick and enforcer of the list. European tradition says while St. Nick is busy delivering presents to good little boys and girls, Krampus hands out punishments to the bad. A fanged, goat-horned bully, the Christmas Devil uses sticks and chains to beat the naughty children. Dark malts and aromatic hops create the diabolical spirit of this brew. It is finished with lager yeast and aged cold for no less than 30 days. This Imperial Helles Lager will warm even the darkest hearts. This season, replace the cookies with a bottle of Krampus. If he happens to pay a visit, toast to him with this devilish brew. Merry Kramp-mas to all, and to all a good pint!

Pours a gold amber. Very deep color. Decent amount of thick head. Kind of a weird smell of hops and skunk. Tastes of slightly bitter hops, malt, and alcohol. Very unique taste. Almost sweet in the finish. Really unique beer.

DATE: December 2, 2016... OCCASION: having returned from Lenape Valleys title game (loss), time for a consolation glass... GLASSWARE: Schneiders Edel-Weise pokal... pours a transparent golden amber body that releases reasonable bubbles into a clumping, thick, sudsy white head... the two hops work overtime with a tail-whipping strength of resin and citrus... slight caramel embeds in the bread malts... again, those hops! a clean ping resonates with the helles profile... a dry chardonnay body blends with a cider-like sweetness to leave a draw that belies its potency... toasted malts mix with fruity dryness--apple, lemon, fig, and astringent alcohol (slightly reminiscent of cheaper vodka?)... this is powerful--one bottle is enough to both entice another and evoke the buzz of something with proof on its bottle... some heat is produced, and that is a good thing--the imperial nature of the beer demands the drinker asks forgiveness for his year of sinfulness and enjoy the punishment... sweet honey, brisk malts and fruitiness make for a fearful, rewarding experience... Southern Tier, thank you for a lager that celebrates the winter season with its power and glory....

Bomber. Bready malt aroma with notes of citrus and pine hops as well as a bit of caramel malt. Pours clear pale copper colored with a thin white head that has poor retention and some lacing. Starts with bread and caramel malt flavors with a light body and a very lager-esque mouthfeel. Finishes very dry and bitter with citrus hops showing themselves briefly before the pine resin hop bitterness snuffs them out. Pretty interesting, but very, very bitter on the finish.

amber color; floral hop aroma; piney hops on a medium bodied, bready malt base; bitter finish; pretty easy drinking for such a high gravity beer; well balanced; a lot hoppier than a helles would normally be
