On tap in Chicago. Pours to a clear amber with hints of brown, and a thin off-white head that lingers to mid-glass and leaves okay lacing. Nose is a pleasant blend of earthy and dark fruit malted scents along with a hint of hoppy fruit. Mouthfeel for this medium bodied beer was slightly tingly and spicy, and the taste followed suit with the nose. Finish was long, and warming as the 8% alcohol started to make itself known in the second half of the glass.

pours dark reddish brown with white head. the aroma is citrus, spices, some alcohol. The flavor is malty, with roastyness, small hints of some seasonal spices with earthiness and slight citrus finishes sweet and caramel. the body is light with bitterness throughout. Drank from a pint glass, poured from a large bottle. Pours a nice dark coppery color with nice fluffy head. Great aromas from the malt bill on this guy, not overpowering on the spice aroma. 12oz bottle - Poured a medium brown with a white head...thinned quickly. I got a whiff of caramel, toasted nuts, and something earthy. First sip was a mixture of skunky water and malt. Some roasted malt and a touch of dark chocolate fades to a slight Carmel sweetness, then a hop backbone comes in. A more crisp winter ale and some decent hop flavor without huge IBUs. Dry finish, and hops linger - slight citrus and bitterness. Very nice change from honey and spice that you usually fine in this season. Low carbonation for this medium body, almost chewy brew.

Musty oak, burnt caramel, spicy. Malty beer with mild hop presence. Dark caramel color with a thin head. Nice weight and heft. Good winter brew. Complex.
