With the onset of winter, the brewer’s mind turns to providing warmth. For our winter seasonal, Southern Tier offers Old Man Winter Ale, a rich and complex amalgam of hops and barley that will put the feeling back in your toes and lift your spirits above the snow. Old Man Winter throws a deep and inviting hue with a thickness that clings to the glass and the warmth of an open flame. Because of its high alcohol content, Old Man Winter is a heady brew that encourages sipping and pondering its essential richness. Drink it fresh now, or cellar some bottles to see how this old man becomes wiser with age.

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is caramel, piny hops, some toffee, some booze, mostly hoppy and different. Appearance is reddish brown, light tan head, clear. Taste is caramel, pine, earthy hops, dark fruit, toffee, spices, it's hoppier than normal but still good. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, bitter caramel hoppy dark fruit aftertaste. Drank from a pint glass, poured from a large bottle. Pours a nice dark coppery color with nice fluffy head. Great aromas from the malt bill on this guy, not overpowering on the spice aroma. This beer is nice and smooth, but has a nice complex kick to it! Cheers!

beerplace (2314) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 22, 2016
355ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a white head. Aroma is malty, dark fruits. Taste is not very pleasant: caramel malt and some hoppy bitterness. Roasted malt afteraste. Probably spoiled.
