Bottle: Strong, malty and citric aroma; toasty malt and earthy hop flavor; mildly bitter finish; slightly watery palate. Decent. IMtheOptimator (1170) - Brookfield, Connecticut, USA - JUL 4, 2005
Poured a clear amber with a fizzy off-white head. Grassy hoppy aroma. Bitter grass taste, very dry. Surprisingly thick body. Thought this might be an EPA, because the hops are not all that pleasant. Dickinsonbeer (5073) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 19, 2005
HBF 2005. Deep gold with good carbonation and nice white head. Aroma is citrusy with a ton of american hops with just a bit of malt in the back for balance. Flavor is moderately sweet from a good amount of malt to balance out the abundance of hops. Not overly hoppy, but very nicely done. Smooth and slightly crisp finish. methtlcai (10) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 17, 2005
Given the low rating on the site for this beer, I was hesitant to get a 6er of it, so I got Southern Tier’s variety pack just to sample- but now I wish that I had gotten a 6! This beer is reminiscant of Red Seal Ale- a surprisingly hoppy yet sweet APA. The aroma jumped out of the bottle and I could smell this one across the room, but the appearance isn’t that great and the lacing is kind of weak. Still, a really tasty ale with more body and hops than you might expect Walt (2449) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 8, 2005
Pour is cloudy orangey yellow with a huge big bubble fast fading off white head...smell is grapefruit and soap...taste is quite malty up front and a little surprising for this style...sweet citrus and a touch bitter in the finish...quite nice!

Bottled. Copper coloured, not much head to talk about. Orange and hops in both aroma and flavour. More on the watery side. Cletus (6368) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 2, 2005
Pours copper with a thin head. Smells of straw and pepper. Tastes of grapefruit and lemons. A bit on the watery side. Nate (4296) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 23, 2005
Mild fruity aroma. Cherrywood and apple skins. Good hoppy character but smooth and mellow. Also some light buttery notes. Brilliant amber clear with thin head that dissipates quickly. Light medium body with medium soft carbonation. Has a medium sweet taste. Hoppy oils and mildly overbearing sugary quality. Nice hops throughout, just a bit dull. Finish is mild cherry skin bitter with touch of neutral fruits. After is a dry bitter. jb (3413) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 20, 2005
Love the nice full hops bouquet and citrus (lemon maybe) aroma. Dark yellow - orange. White head. Some malt in the palate and some hops in the finish. Starts good finishes drably.
