Plum Noir pours a rich brown black with deep ruddy tints. The nose is rich malt earthiness with hints of red fruit and burnt sugar. Foretaste is just a hint of dark roast coffee. Mid taste it broadens with red fruit sweetness, a touch of caramel and dark chocolate resolving into very slight bitters. the body is a tad bubbly. A very nice dark beer.
March 21, 2014 - with blankboy, gregclow, mabel and jercraigs - bomber. Deep clear ruby with a decent frothy/bubbly tan head. Smells like a light mid-dry porter, with extra alcohol - roast and light fruit. Taste is chocolate, dry nutty malt and fruit - plum? - some alcohol; simple. Light, slick, mild carbonation, medium malty finish, a little acidity in the aftertaste - nothing special, but quite tasty. Travlr (26070) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JUN 18, 2017
Draft at Wurst. Pretty much opaque brown color, tan head. Aroma of light plum on a light roast background. Taste is lightly fruity cocoa and coffee. OK. Brigadier (3750) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - MAR 31, 2017

I thought I was done picking up random bombers from Southern Tier. This one hid itself well in the cellar so during a purge I give it a chance. I should have left it on the shelf when I had the chance - it’s not terrible but it suffers from the same weaknesses as many higher gravity Southern Tier offerings. Save your money for other beers at the local store.
Aroma / Appearance - A deep reddish black base sits under yellowish white head. Boozy sweet grape juice smells like someone left a bottle of Welch’s outside to naturally ferment. The sweetness masks anything else that might be happening underneath.
Flavor / Palate - Plums, light chocolate, and malt open with a promising start. Things then begin to go downhill as the sugary booze clings to the throat. The flat finish leaves an unremarkable aftertaste that is the hallmark of most over the top Southen Tier special releases. If not for being the best option in its corner of the state I would never buy Southern Tier again.
Another shitball beer from Southern Tier, no surprise how bad this is. Do not buy.

Bomber shared. Dark pour, minimal head. Dark plum aroma. Taste is more bitter chocolate than anything. Not balanced at all. This was a miss for me. BVery (11361) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAY 14, 2016

On tap at Hopjacks. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is dark fruit, plum, chocolate, grain. Thin mouth, strong caramel, plum skin, toasted malt, hides alcohol well, very good.
