Decent beer, though thin and a bit on the light side for a porter. The raspberry could taste a good bit more natural than it does, but it is a tasty beer none the less. dolemike1 (1288) - Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 18, 2010
Deep brown with a reddish tint, off white head. Raspberry nose, raspberry flavor overpowering the malt... thin, watery finish. Ehh. gam (3930) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JAN 18, 2010

12 oz. bottle from Belmont Party Supply. Pours a clear dark ruby brown color with a small, resilient beige head that leaves some lacing behind. Initial aroma of roast and coffee, but raspberry dominates more and more as it warms and gets lower. Also notes of chocolate and nuts. Flavor is also led by raspberry, with notes of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, and hops. It’s more than the ’hint’ of raspberry Southern Tier claims. Body is disappointingly watery and thin, with a kind of gritty mouthfeel. Roasty finish, with most of the raspberry gone by then. I’ve had much better raspberry porters, but this isn’t bad. smooch (238) - Sylvania, Ohio, USA - JAN 3, 2010
I really like this beer although it probably isn’t the nice chocolatey porter that it should be. The raspberries really dominate which I like when it is very cold..as it warms, it becomes a little more well-rounded porter.

Standard porter, medium mouthfeel. The aroma has the standard notes of roastiness, chocolate. The color is just like a porter, maybe a slight tinge of red. The finish is the only place where the sweet rasperry flavor peaks out. The finish segues into a roasted flavor after that. Not bad, not remarkable. 12oz bottle: Pours to a reddish-brown, clear body with a small tan colored head. The aroma is fresh, slightly sour raspberries with hints of mild roasted malt, chocolate. Taste is fresh raspberries with hints of mild roasted malt, very mild chocolate. Finishes with notes of raspberries and dry roasted malt. Light-medium bodied, medium carbonated. Just a bit too light on the body and roasted malt/porter characteristics for me. jredmond (8288) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 13, 2009
Bottle split with RyGuy. Pours a deep red body that seems somewhat thin. The aroma is strong raspberries. The flavor starts off with sugary raspberry and ends with a brief roast flavor. Great fruit beer. joshwilfong (1200) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - DEC 5, 2009
pitch black with large white head, an attractive appearing beer and a great raspberry nose, very fragrant, unfortunately no other positive sentiments to profess. minimal roasty flavors, the raspberry persists through, not much to even record with this beer, very disappointint nickd717 (4691) - San Francisco, California, USA - NOV 28, 2009
On tap at RFD’s in DC. Pours nearly black with a medium off-white head. Aroma is mostly your typical porter profile - roast and chocolate - along with slight raspberry. Flavor is roasted and caramel malt, a little smoke, chocolate, and subtle raspberry notes. Mildly sweet with a tiny bit of fruit tartness. Medium-light body with average carbonation. Overall a decent beer.
