Thin body, bitter sweet flavour. Best drunk cold on a hot day. Nothing special about this one.
Worst beer I have ever had the misfortune to taste. Even Budweiser and Millers arenít that bad!
I was looking for negative on the rating scale, and was dissapointed. fletchfighters (1519) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 30, 2011
In the mold of VB, Tooheys, and XXXX.
Sweet corn, Vegetables, sweet bread, metal, and sugar. I think a couple of hops were put in for fun.
Just buy the Old Southwark and pass this by. jonno (2751) - JAPAN - SEP 22, 2009
Probably better than xxxx or vb but still just an industrial pale lager. A tad more bitter than most but nothing to go ape over. madquacker (1138) - Canberra ACT, AUSTRALIA - AUG 30, 2009
I was pleasantly suprised. Was expecting Reschs but got a malty grippy and grainy brew with a bit of character. Not as chemcially as I would have expected. How come this cannot be got outside of Sth Aust? alepig666 (78) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - JUN 9, 2009
Many people here in Adelaide call Southwark "The poor manís Coopers". A bit severe since Southwark is capable of good stuff, but also some disappointments, and this is one of them. 25 IBUís, but the bitterness seems almost artificially added, and overall it tastes like licking a rusty gate. Would go well with some meals (the reason for giving it points at all), but otherwise will leave you screaming for water. Not remotely sessionable to me, but Iíve heard horror hangover stories from people whoíve drank it heavily, the "Green Death" myth in action. A big disappointment.

Pale golden body with a very short head. Fairly sweet taste with a stale soapy aroma. beerledgend (1196) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 1, 2006
bright orange in colour with small white head, sweet mallty tatse. Misuse of the word "Bitter". was ot very bitter at all, just another Aussie macro. ALLOVATE (3003) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 13, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2005 Drank this one on the odd occasion Cooperís wasnít on draught in my two years in Adelaide. Pours a clear gold with a bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma was definitely hop driven, but not the delicate floral Kentish hops, Pride of Ringwood came to mind with a mix of grassy, metallic, stale hops of a different variety. Nose follows into the mouth with a heightened oxidised edge and biting carbonation, thin body and bitter in the back with a little sweet malt and corn starch to attempt a compromise. Finishes off quite crisp and forgettable. Come to think of it I donít know why I drank it, I suppose it was because it was beer and I was at a pub and thats what you do there. Not the best from Southwark. theread (58) - Wagga Wagga, AUSTRALIA - MAR 12, 2004
Supposedly Australia's most bitter beer with an IBU (International Bitterness Unit, whatever that is) of 25.
Still it tastes pretty ordinary, I couldn't finish the bottle. I think it would be a lot better, as is VB, if it was much colder to kill the taste. Pretty ordinary stuff. Cheers folks
