COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the style of the old London Imperial Russian stout to a recipe perfected over 40 years ago, the roast coffee and almost port-like characters make it an excellent nightcap and winter warmer. Voted Champion Stout at the 2001 Australian International Beer awards having previously been Grand Champion Beer in 1988 and 1991.

An otherwise good stout spoiled by an overwhelming foul chemical taste, possibly preservative. Will try another to see if I had a bad batch.

Very bitter and tastes like coffee (both of which are good qualities). However it is much harder drinking than a stout like Coopers which is still better in my opinion. Good value though.

mutant (854) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - FEB 12, 2002
Opaque black body, tan head mostly retained with good lace. Bitter dark chocolate flavour (yum) with some alcohol up front. Strong coffee aftertaste with roasty bitterness. This was quite thick also and really first rate.

Being from england i was astounded to find a stout like this so far from the mother country. without a shade of doubt the best stout in Australia.

Great stuff, up there with Coopers in the stout stakes, geez SA makes some good stout.

motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 9, 2001
real mulekick. used to get it when i was young because it was the same price as other beers but stronger. then realised it has lotsa roasted coffee and nut and is also not too sticky

duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 2, 2001
coffee caramel nose, and nice easy coffee and burnt hops on the palate. Surprisingly smooth and soft on the tongue, and the alcohol content is hidden quite well. up there with my favourite stouts.
