Opaque black with a dark tan head. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Rich dark roast malts with a bit of molasses, smoke, coffee and black chocolate and with a long lasting moderately bitter finish. A great stout! Choos (754) - Taylors Hill, AUSTRALIA - NOV 29, 2003
Wow. I didn't get much aroma from this except alcohol to begin with but agree with another poster it does have cocoa powder there as well. The flavours and mouth feel are unbelievable! My first sip I would have sworn it was cut with a rich desert wine but then quickly gives way to roasted barley & bitter chocolate flavours. Pleasently bitter with a hint of metal. Though well carbonated this still has great mouthfeel. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - FEB 23, 2004
This was a very nice dry stout. Lots of dark chocolate flavors, with some nice espresso coffee roastedness. A nice full mouthfeel, that is sticky and chewy. Very drinkable. diabel (1706) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - JUN 20, 2005
Bottle - many thanks to mullet for bringing this over to Europebridge (659) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JUL 7, 2006
Black bodied. Light brown head, which diminsihes totally. Nose of spices and malts (tofee, coffee). Moderately bitter, moderately sweet initial flavour. Lightly bitter finish. Very nice stout. I really enjoyed this beer.
Deep black with a creamy brown head that was short but lasting. Aroma consisted of chocolate liqueur, roasted almonds, some sweet molasses and some alcohol. Fairly full bodied, as you’d expect, but it contains the alcohol quite well. The 750ml bottle went down quite easily, but it would probably have been best to share it! A pity it isn’t more widely available.

Bottle. A lively pour, black with a huge thick creamy head. A brown head that laced very well. Roasted malt aroma with chocolate and coffee. Deliciously dry and roasty on the palate, strong coffee flavours in the malt, as well as some vinuous qualities. Mattburns (114) - USA - JUL 11, 2010
A lovely stout. Not overly powered in any department. A nice splendid assortment of dark chocolate, coffee, toffy, caramalisation. Very sessionable. bman1986 (173) - Broadstairs, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2010
Draft at The New Sydney, Hobart. A strong, dark and very rich stout. Big chocolate and roasted malt flavours with a really nice tang to it. Fair coffee hit thrown in there to boot, quite viscous with a terrific mouthfeel. All in all a fantastic stout. BarossaLuke (552) - AUSTRALIA - JAN 26, 2011
UPDATED: JUL 28, 2012 I’d never had this beer before but since it appeared in the book 1001 Beers to try Before You Die then I thought why haven’t I tried it! Colour is a nice black with a good creamy tan head. Aroma has some coffee and light caramel with a bit of roast there too. Like a lot of Australian and tropical stouts there is also a fruity character to the aroma and on the palate. Mouthfeel is quite rich and slightly slick. A good stout that I would drink again.
