This was a mssive bock. One o the best I’ve ever had. Gold pour. Canary yellow and forthy lager white head. Not too sticky. Powerful nose. All sweet malts. Floraly, earthy honey tang sweetness, Much like mounatin laurel without any greeness. Cottony sweetness. Flavors are rich. Orangey tangy sweetness. thick honey maltiness. Lovely beer. Nice hop greeness. Spicy finish that is clean and melon like.

Un-Muzzling Olde Muzzlehatch Ratings, #83. Draught pint - or probably .5 liter - at the Essen Haus in Madison, WI, August 2008. Pale clear gold with a lasting dollop of snow-white head...grassy aroma at first, more like a pils or helles, but caramelized malts do come through after a minute or two...body too is more reminiscent of a lighter lager style with the caramelization rather muted; there’s also some discernible hops which is unusual, though they are faint...light alcoholic bite, pretty full at the finish and sweet enough that, OK, yeah, it’s a bock I guess, just a very lightly-flavored/textured and dry one. Which isn’t really a bad thing.

Similar to a Heineken. Super skunky flavor and bitter. Had to drink this because i rated all other beers. Pours light yellow in color. Had out of a bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Pours golden yellow with slight lace. Surprisingly more sweet than bitter. Grainy and full of yeast. A bit of a skunk at the end.

Draft at Moriartys. Bright golden pour with a white head. Lots of carbination. Strong yeasty aroma. Slight nutty taste. Crisp. Low bitterness. Drinkable but not worth savoring.

16 ounce pint - $5.50 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Served up a clear, deep yellow-hued body with a medium-sized, white head that soon settles into a thin ring.

Smell: A whiff of pilsner malt, some soft, sweet-accented breadiness, a thin sliver of honey, and spice and dried leaves in the background.

Taste: An initially twangy taste of faintly grainy pils malt. Lightly sweet, hinting barely at mild honey. German noble hops provide touches of florals, spice, and a slight leafy quality. Modestly bitter. Drying on the back end, with a final pop of malt on the finish, then a lingering mingling of graininess and bitterness in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: A decent, suitable maibock.

Tap. Fluffy pure white head, clear golden orange-yellow. Very fruity in both the aroma and taste - stone fruits and apples. Gets a bit grainy as well, and has some metallic notes in the flavor. Sweetish, and has a heftier nearly syrupy body. Too sweet for me....

Like so many things that have attained iconic status, it’s tough to say anything too good or too bad about this. Both the aroma and the palate beckon with so much malt that it hints of sour grapefruit. Yet the body is surprisingly thin, and the carbonation surprisingly coarse for those of us who cut our teeth on American craft brews. A nice beer, but it’s too bad not every classic can be "Casablanca."
