On tap at Mahars. Pours a thin brown with a little head. Aroma is very faint caramel. Flavor is sweet and tasty, nothing rememberable though. jblendy (521) - Hawthorne, New Jersey, USA - MAY 7, 2009
Bland, watery, and uninteresting. Don’t expect too much from spaten, but this is just lame. DWestrick (858) - Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAY 2, 2009

Bottle sampled at SF International Beer Fest. Copper color with an off-white head. Caramel malt and grain on the aroma. Flavor is bready German malt with light skunk (yes, they brought slightly skunked beer to a beer fest - damn green bottles). Light-medium body with high carbonation. Bottle. Pours with a fading off-white head over a clear brown body. Aroma of grain, light lightstruck hops(skunk), caramel malt. Taste is malty, lightly skunky, with cracker and caramel. Fizzy carbonation, dryish finish, boring.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney. Pours a clear dark brown with ruby hues, beige head. Aroma is kinda lighter then expected, malt, some toasted grain, caramel. Flavor is very much the same. Mouth feel is thinner then what I was expecting as well, medium body, slightly watery, high carbonation. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good beer. Pours amber brown with a nice sized off white head. Aroma is slightly skunky pale malt with a little bit of caramel and roasted malts. Flavor is caramel, with a little roasted malt. I kind of like this. hotstuff (5279) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 23, 2009
Bottle. Medium sized very fizzy ivory head with poor retention, transparent, soft slow-rising carbonation, spotty lacing, and an orange-brown body. The aroma was malty, sweet, caramel, hint of hops, and a hint of dark fruits. The flavor was sweet, malty, some caramel, hint of hops, and finishes dry. The mouthfeel was smooth and this is a light bodied beer. A very easy to drink dunkel, not a lot of character IMO, would be a decent session beer, and a beer to have around to drink from time to time.
