One of my favorite beers ever. I don’t know why but I have a soft spot for the wonderful grainy maltiness and delicious noble hops in this beer. I can drink this to oblivion. If I could only have one beer this might be it.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2012 (fresh well-cared-for bottle)
Aroma is full of sweet bready roasted malt, and reminiscent of sugar carmelized in hot butter.
Appearance is coppery brown with a thin beige head.
Taste is mostly sweet roasted malt, fruity yeast and alcohol esters, a touch of minerality, and a hint of browned butter.
Palate has a round medium body with medium carbonation.

(previous entry: 3.3)
Lucent brown, no head, medium body, medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: skunked noble hops, roast malt sweetness.

Taste: roast malt, skunked noble hops, dry minerality.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A german classic dunkel. Heavy on the flavor, malty, but medium bodied. A session dunkel for sure.

Spaten München Dunkel has a thick, lively beige head, a clear, bubbly reddish-brown appearance, and lots of splotchy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet brown bread, and the flavor is the same with some slight caramel, wine, and hop notes. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium, and Spaten München Dunkel finishes semi-dry, crisp, refreshing, and highly drinkable. Overall, this is a most excellent beer. RJT
