2015 BJCP Category: 4A Munich Helles
AROMA: Fairly strong skunky scent due to green bottle. Otherwise a lightly sweet, clean grain malt presence of pure pilsner malt. Faint Noble hop spicy scent. 8/12
APPEARANCE: Pale golden hue (2-3 SRM); extremely clear. Small, white foamy head never completely evaporates. 2/3
FLAVOR: Moderately sweet clean pilsner malt throughout. A touch of authentic honey flavor in the background grows a little stronger on the finish and lingers in the aftertaste briefly. Spicy Noble hops are present, but mild and subtle. Palette is definitely more malty than hoppy, but far from cloying. Would probably be a perfect score if not for the lightstrike flaw. 18/20
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; medium carbonation. Smooth, crisp and refreshing with slight malty sweet aftertaste. Highly sessionable even at 5.2% ABV. 4/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Pretty much the progenitor of the style and still one of the better examples after all these years. If only it were in cans! 8/10
TOTAL SCORE: 40/50

, Tartu. Pours clear golden with nice sticky white head. Aroma: not much in there, grainy, papery, malty. Taste: malty, weak caramel notes, even candy, hints of hops.Nice lager in hot summerday or when you just want to have quick lager.
Good Helles. I sm still not capable to taste the difference between the 'Münchner Hell' (from Munich only) and the classic Helles. Good, though. Atom (2522) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 11, 2017
12oz bottle pours a clear pale straw golden with a large white head. Strong grassy pencil shaving hop aroma light sweet malt. Taste of sweet bready grain honey malt with light yeast and grassy hops on the finish. Tasty, light, and very drinkable. drmet (994) - GERMANY - AUG 7, 2017
-pours a clear golden with a small to medium, foamy, white head
-medium to high carbonation visible
T: hop extract harshness
-medium to high bitterniss for the style
-light to medium body
This is decent, though more of a Premium/Export Lager than a Helles.
It can’t really hide it’s industrial character.

Not the best beer but certainly not the worst. It's a German lager, I feel like there are just so many better beers out there to drink. Meh

Van ’t vat. Helder blond bier met wit schuim. Geur: licht hoppige neus, wat 4VG. Smaak: zeer moutig en precies wat yoghurt en lactose. Zeer romig. Goede koolzuurprikkel. rosskyle (744) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 8, 2017
Served on tap at Leib and Seele. Clear golden color with a white head. Minimal aroma and flavor. Easy drinking.

Poured from 500mL can (labelled P: 05/19/2016; E: 05/19/2017 so this one is slightly expired... should’ve checked when i bought it). Clear pale yellow with dissipating white head. Mild sweet malt, very subtle grassy hops. Not bad for a lager-type beer. Pershing (567) - Garland, Texas, USA - JUN 18, 2017
Clear yellow with medium carbonation and malt in the aroma. Light body with some noble hop bitterness to match style. Clean refreshing finish. Above average central European lager. Nice to drink a beer from a brewery that doesn’t have to recreate a new beer style every six weeks to stay in business.
