This beer is our speciality. In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

Light golden/yellow hue with a nice foamy head. Probably not the freshest bottle but it has that characteristic Munich flavor. Grainy and lightly hopped Definitely some oxidation going on. Pretty decent and clean. At the right time and place this is an enjoyable beer.

Bottle: Skunk aroma hit the air the second the cap came off. Wish I had that brown bottle in the picture, it may have helped. Instead I got the green one. Aroma is kind of a skunky malt apple. Pours a light gold with a decent white head that lasts a minute or so. Very little up front with light malt and bitterness in the finish. Easy drinking and more of a thirst quencher than a really enjoyable beer.

very typical lager-- average grassy stinky aroma of european hops, with a typical malt and tangy hops flavor. one of the better european lagers, but definitely nothing special.

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2007 Bottle. Gold in color with white, long lasting head. Grassy flavor with a very distinctive and pleasant odor. Well balanced, and quite nice to drink. Better than Heineken by a long shot.

poured a light gold w/ a thin white head and lots of carbonation, scent was a hint grassy but very light (bar) the palate was very plain nothing impressive. The flavor was a bit earthy w/ hints of malts but fairly light overall.. overall it wasn’t bad.. I could drink it again.

Really not much in terms of aroma, but it came out of the bottle with a gorgeous white head that was so creamy it looked like redi-whip. I had this bottle right after a Stella Artois, and what a difference! I know the styles are a bit different, but this beer had the balance down in the flavor. This is what I expected from an imported lager. Feels cool and refreshing on the way down, with just a bit of bitterness after you swallow.

Pale yellow, moderate white, bubbly head. Skunk aroma as expected, with a little sweetness. Has some sweetness and surprising amount of hops. Watery.

Kind of a tastier alternative to Heineken. If you don’t want a skunky Euro-lager, then this might be a good beer for you. A little more of the hoppy flavor...pretty good.

Pale golden colour. Intense hoppy aroma. Slightly malty taste with a hopbitter finish. Rather on the hoppy side of Helles. Slightly creamy texture, and somewhat smooth mouthfeel. Decent Helles.
