COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Water, Barley Malt, Hops & Hop extract.
Sold as Münchner Hell in Germany, München in the UK and Premium in North America.
This beer is our speciality. In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

12 oz bottle into a Samuel Smith pint glass. A: Pours a crystal clear golden straw color. I love how translucent the body is, in particular. The head is a two finger white shade; retention isn’t the best, but there’s some really nice lacing left on the glass. S: Aye, it’s a bit skunked (lol, green bottles), but it could have been worse. The notes of pale malts, faint sweetness, and zesty hops aren’t dulled in any significant capacity. T: At first, some of the hop profile comes through with notes of grass and lemon zest, but the finish is pure, balanced, simple malt goodness. In particular, it has a nutty flavor that I really enjoy (that, and the diacetyl is kept in check). Personally, I want more hops; but I won’t complain about the balance this offers. M: Not quite as bone dry as I like my lagers to be - nor is it too sweet. The texture does the best it can to provide good drinkability without significant hoppiness. O: Green bottles mean I wouldn’t buy this one again. However, I would seek it out on tap. An under-appreciated lager unfortunately scorned both by its bottle color and by who makes it.

Aromas of yeast, malt and light hops. Pours clear gold with a white fast dissipating head. Light lacing. Balanced light lager flavors quite malty with yeast overtones. Medium carbonation. Nice crisp lingering finish. A good choice if you’re looking for lager.

Couleur dotée claire, très légère mousse. Nez très léger... Gout pareil, un peu malté doux et petite amertume houblonné... naze

Fresh & smooth lager that I enjoyed from a green bottle. Reminiscent of most of the German & Dutch lagers with the prominent taste being the German pilsner malt.

Clean, crisp and very refreshing. However, it tasted a little undercooked or raw in ways that was a little bit off-putting.

On tap at the Golden Hind, Cambridge. Light gold, with lots of visible carbonation. Sticky grainy malt aroma with some doughy biscuit notes and a hint of citrus. Sweet malty taste with envelope glue, soft orchard fruit, honey. Sweetness lasts throughout the aftertaste without that unwelcome acidity so common in big-name lagers. This is a decent Helles, one that grew on me over the course of the drink.

Buena Pale Lager alemana que supera para mi gusto las pilsen checas. Me ha sorprendido bastante. De un amarillo muy claro y burbuja fina en la cabeza de espuma blanca. Baja carbonatación, refrescante y muy bebible.

Grain and bread malts. Clear gold, medium, frothy, white head. Light bitter. More grain and bread malts, lively carbonation, medium bodied, bitter finish. OK Helles, predictably boring. Keg at Tabard, Chiswick.
