Amber pour with thin, lacing head. Biscuit and noble hop aromas. Nice underlying sweetness and malt characters and very subtle bittering on the back of the tongue. Good, medium body is cut by medium/high carbonation

12oz bottle. Clear dark gold with a small white head. Mainly malt aromas and favors, mild hops and caramel sweetness. Lively carbonation, smooth malt finish.

Bottle from Merchants. Not stoked it's green. Aroma is sweet, metallic, earthy hop, wheat, caramel malt, slightly skunked. Appearance is dark amber, almost brown, light tan head. Taste is robust, caramel malt, earthy hops, slight skunk, a deeper flavor and robustness than other Festbier, creamy, good. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light crisp carbonation, slick, caramel malt and slightly skunked earthy hop aftertaste. Overall, it's different from other Oktoberfest I've had, and it doesn't look quite right, but it definitely tastes good.

Bottle from Wegman's. Caramel brown clear, with medium body and mild hops nose. Bitter finish.

Aroma: herbs and malty. Appearance: straw color and thin white head. Taste: high herbal bitterness, herbs, malty, dry. Palate: medium body and high carbonation. Overall: decent maerzen, high bitterness, this is something new.

MNAle (204) - Minnesota, USA - AUG 30, 2017
Relatively faint aroma of biscuit with hints of spice and fruit. Clear deep amber with a short cream-colored head, thick and bubbly, ending quickly as a thin cap with a ring. Stringy lacing. Lots of visible carbonation. Surprisingly bitter on the initial taste, continuing on through the finish. Taste, apart from the bitterness, is tart and a bit off-putting to me.

12oz bottle to tulip. Pours dark orange brown, soapy tan head. Aroma of corn, caramel, butter, biscuit, dried flowers. Taste of same with slight bittersweet caramel apple finish. I like it. Mouthfeel is spot on for style.

oobawa (1575) - Tennessee, USA - AUG 20, 2017
Aroma is toasted bread and caramel mixed with Eurolager skunkiness. Ugly pour, coming out a decent orange-gold but giving up a fizzy, brief head with no lace. Taste is better than the nose, full of rich caramel sweetness, buttered biscuits, and mild apple esters, but the skunky floral bitterness on the back end reeks of bad green-bottled German beer, leaving a vegetal aftertaste that clashes with the sweetness on the front. Good feel, lively but creamy. Still a little too old-school European Oktoberfest for my tastes.

Aroma: toasted bready malts and subtle caramel sweetness. herbal hop aroma notes. Appearance: medium amber, almost copper with a nice half inch off-white head with good retention. bright clear. Flavor: bready, caramelly, malt sweetness smoothly balanced by herbal noble hop bitterness. no hop derived flavors. Palate: body is medium, texture creamy, moderate carbonation and mild to low astringency. the finish is short and moderately dry with lingering mild waves of bitterness. Overall: very nice. so smooth that adventurous craft drinkers might find it uninteresting. a classic style. dig it.

No idea why this is rated so high. tastes like leinenkugel oktoberfest but worse. thin and watery, mild skunk, very little flavor at all. sessionable tho i guess.

From a new bottle...different label than in the photo above. Pours gold amber with small head and lace. Aroma of malt, grains, slight wet laundry. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of pale malts, grains, grassy hops, hay, light field herbs, minerals. I’ve been drinking this beer since around 1980 and it’s bee consistently respectable as a German Oktoberfest.
