Broken is a promise...

Deceiving, double-crossing, and treacherous, Betrayal strikes a chord in the deepest shade of red. At first glance, she’s sweet and seductive, yet at the last sharp enough to curl your tongue. The allure of her dazzling caramel sweetness and scintillating aromatic hops is enchanting.

Art (3217) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 28, 2013
On tap at HOTB. Pours a clear but handy red with an off white head. Aroma was of old grassy hops. Not sure if this is normal for this beer. Tastes slightly sweet with a bitter finish.

8.2% at Antenna America. Shared by Chuwy. A gorgeous red pour with a beige head. The nose is citrus & spicy rye notes. A nice bitter ale, caramel but a bit too biter & astringent. A nice beer but a touch too grapefruity bitter for me.

Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 16, 2013
On tap at HOTB. Mild hop notes, Twizzlers and sweet malt character. Deep coppery amber clear with thin head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Moderately sweet start with light Twizzlers. Carbonic tang. Medium-heavy hop bitterness in the finish with nutty sweet after.

650 ml bottle. Amber-brown color with a big sudsy beige head that as good retention. The aroma is strong with pine, grapefruit and sweet caramel. The taste, like the aroma, is pine, grapefruit and toffee. The palate is incredibly smooth and full with soft carbonation. Finishes medium in duration and dry. Overall: Very tasty stuff, me like.

beertholomeus (1813) - California, USA - DEC 10, 2013
Pours amber with a thick tan head. Hop, caramel, toffee, citrus, dark fruit and chocolate aroma. Resinous hop, caramel, toffee, chocolate, citrus, biscuit, bubblegum, plum and malt flavors. Medium full body and moderate carbonation. Slightly bitter and chocolate, caramel and resinous hop finish.

beerbastard (844) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - DEC 4, 2013
22oz bomber, reddish brown pour, small head. Pine and toffee malt aromas. Toasty earthy pine flavors, followed by lite caramel sweetness. Hides alcohol well. Very tasty.

IrishBoy (4210) - Bakersfield, California, USA - DEC 3, 2013
22 oz bomber (bottle calls it an Imperial Red) from GM Liqours. Nose is caramel with some citrus & resinous hops and hints of licorice and bubblegum. Lightly hazy rusty red with a medium, lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, bitter, and peppery with some very light toffee notes.

Beaver (1807) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 23, 2013
22 oz bottle. Pours dark ruby amber with a big creamy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet caramel and toffee nutty malts with some leafy hops.

The flavor is sweet caramel, toffee and chocolate malts, some nuttiness and some grassy hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit thin and watery.

Overall, a nicely balanced red.

Ibrew2or3 (8660) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 16, 2013
22oz bomber pours with a clear ruby red body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet dark fruity esters such as cherries and plums as well as some sugary malts, roasted malts and a bit of molasses. The taste begins with a mix of sweet malts, roasted malts and some sweet dark fruity esters like cherries and raisins. Behind all of that is a firm layer of bitter pine like hoppiness. Nice rich balanced beer where the deep malts meet a load of pine hops.

drjay44 (3736) - Salida, Colorado, USA - NOV 11, 2013
Draft. Pours a medium, ivory head, over a clear dark brown (SRM 25) body.....nose is pine, citrus peel, cereal, hints of anise....taste is light cocoa, pine, citrus peel, loads of cereal, hints of licorice, finishing with a lingering moderate bitterness.......mouth feel medium, minimal astringency, slight alcohol burn, pleasant acid tingle. This beer is pleasantly complex, but very poorly balanced, with the hop bitter dominating the other aromas and flavors. The malt back bone needs more oomph to fight back with the trite American pine grapefruit bitterness. BJCP 8/3/12/4/6
