No lightweight, Big Daddy I.P.A. tips the scales with a huge hop flavor and a dry, clean finish that leaves the scene without a trace.

Pours a slightly hazy deep gold color with a minimal head. Some lace. Aroma is pine, citrus, grapefruit and some mint. Pretty much not malt backbone for either the aroma or flavor. Flavor is dominated by a dry tasting hop tea which is very boring. Lots of bine and some mint in the end. Finishes almost bone dry and somewhat tart. I actually like a lot of IPAs that are way overbalanced by hops but this sure as hell wasnt one of them.

I agree with WISEGUY below. It needs a muh fuller mouth feel. Its not much of an experience.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2005 Typicallish hop aroma, big hop flavor though, which is nice. Farily light amber, bordering on gold. Another West Coast IPA that doesnt heap on the crystal malts to fatten up the body. I kinda like that.

This is my favorite style, a citrusy bitter west coast American IPA. And yet, somehow, it just doesnt come as one of the best not a Stone, or a Rogue, or a Lagunitas. Beautiful golden color, lots of nose ... so whats missing? Could it use more malt? Probably. Would more malt give it a less thin mouth feel? Probably. Is it too dry in the finish? Maybe not. I like it, but there are much better IPAs out there.

Big, earthy hop profile in the aroma and flavor. Crisp and has notes of citrus. Finishes very cleanly and dry.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2007 Original Rate, 5/28/05. Dark yellow color with a dishsoap-like foamy head. Smells a little like dust. Watery body and dominantly grainy taste with only a brief hit of hops at the start. 5-2-6-3-12 Re-Rate. Im glad Skyview brought another bottle of this, as I obviously didnt care for it last time around. Floral hop and citrus aroma. Much more hoppy flavor with a lot of citrus. Slightly herbal finish. Much better.

Its a very drinkable beer, but just cant stand up to the other IPAs Ive had. I was fairly disappointed with it. It would make a really enjoyable APA. Maybe its just mislabeled.
