Poured up on tap at Flanny’s where it has a deep dark body that supports a light mocha colored head of foam that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up blueberry and spicy date fruitiness mixed with molasses, black licorice, malts and a bit if brownie. The taste is similar except there’s woody spiciness and molasses to somewhat toffee covered bunt malts to go along with dark fruity and spicy licorice notes. It does get a little malted wheat like to midway with zero wheat banana esters going on here. It just dives deeper into dark roasty and molasses sweetened burnt maltiness into the finish. On draft at the Speakeasy tap room. It pours a very dark red with a thick tan head. The aroma has lots of cherry with some spicy malt, cocoa and dry roast. The flavor has some cherry juice, vanilla and roasted malt. Full bodied with a spicy American oak woody finish. Really well balanced and tasty. On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of carmel, roastiness, bitter chocolate, vanilla,. light cherry and a hint of bourbon. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. On tap at Blue Palm’s 4th Anniversary. Pours with a near black hue with a large tan head that leaves behind great lace. Aromas are roasty, grainy, wheaty, toasty, molasses, low esters and some chocolate. Flavors are roasty, grainy, toasty, nutty, molasses, medium bitterness, and rummy. Draft. Blackish beer with a tan head. Light bourbon and caramel aroma with light wheat. Bourbon and wheat flavor with caramel and light dark fruits. Medium bodied. Bourbon and red fruit lingers with wheat and caramel.
A - Served a cloudy dark black color with a touch of chocolate frothy head. The head fades down fairly quickly leaving behind some light lace.
S - Aroma is a mix of Bourbon, oak, vanilla, roasted chocolate, wheat, and booze.
T - Starts off with some roasted and burnt chocolate malts with some Bourbon and wheat. Through the middle, some more Bourbon comes through with some more oak and vanilla with some sweet wheat and a touch of dark fruit. The finish is a mix of Bourbon, vanilla, oak, lots of roasted malts and some booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a warming and sweet finish.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 (draft at Beer Revolution on 2/14) Frothy tan head. Chocolate brown. Flavor of bready grain. Bitter. No appreciable aroma. Normal body. Really doesn’t taste like a wheat wine. More like a grainy barley wine.
