Thanks to Odeed for this - man, I hate when brewers filter their barleywines - totally clear, bright red with zero head - aroma of fig, caramel, and a slightly medicinal alcohol smell - very thin on the palate - hints of herbs and spices, subtle hops - light sweetness, with some biscuit and caramel - astringent, phenolic finish - not a lot going on - "middle of the road" is a compliment for this beer. Poured a deep copper body with a fairly large head, solid lacing. Caramel, citrus and grapefruit in the aroma. Fairly typical American style BW. Slightly sweet finish, light alcohol. Nice one. 1FastSTi (3360) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 1, 2006
Thanks Jason. Pours to a clear glowing amber body. No head. The aroma is leafy and stemy with light malt. The flavor is bitter leafy hops, malt is hard to be found but is lightly caramelly. The palate is moderate, lightly resiny, alcoholic. DavidP (1748) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 1, 2006
Bottle shared by Jason. Clear carmel body. Nougat, cracker, spoiled cherry and gin in the nose. Leafy bitter flavor (orangey hops/bitter stem) over moderatley sweet dark caramel malting. Sort of a dark IIPA. JCapriotti (1379) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 1, 2006
Clear red-orange / amber body. Thin big bubbled off-white head. Dry cheap caramel, thin hops, alcohol, some oily automobile aroma. Flavor is interesting... dry sweet pine, odd things too. Bitter oil.

light copper color w/ a small tan head thin lacing. Smell is pretty lazy a bit musty raisens carmel, canned plum liked the components but not the sum. Palate is fairly average some ok coating. Flavor is a very dry grassy/piney hop w/ some artificial carmel flavors dark fruits w/ some alcoholic notes showing through in the finish.
I wasn’t a fan. blackmurder (236) - Whitaker, Oregon, USA - JUL 25, 2006
A nice one for the price, but not too tasty in the summer. Pours a hazy amber with hues or maroon. Smells of muscat grapes, raisins, and figs. A very mellow barleywine flavor with a thick mouthfeel that clings to your tongue.
Great for the price. IrishBoy (4233) - Bakersfield, California, USA - JUL 20, 2006
Bottle a gift from Odeed! Thanks Jacob! Nose of caramel and dark fruit, mixed with some malt; transparent rust color, with a ring of beige bubbles around on side of the glass; flavor shows the caramelmalt and fruit, but also a lot of hops. It fades into a nice hoppy bitter finish with a little alcohol burn. footbalm (1219) - Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota, USA - JUL 20, 2006
Bottle from Tever, thanks Tom. Pours an amber color with only a fine ring of bubbles. This is a caramel and fruity Barley Wine. Sweet and syrupy with a nice bitterness left on the tongue from the hops. A nice brew as it is pretty thick and tasty on the tongue. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - JUL 16, 2006
This barley Wine pours an orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied barley wine. Malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. Hops are floral and piney. Touch of apples and pears. Nice carbonation. Touch of alcohol bite. Kind of sweet, the tropical fruit flavors are not quite balanced by the citrusy hops. Nice barleywine, kind of unassuming. Etched beer bottle. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with some alcohol bite.
