American hops provide a smooth distraction for Payback Porters robust strength, which is concealed within the shadows of dark imported malts.

Pours a deep brown color with a robust dark malt aroma. Taste is a little dry, with a slight bitter coffee aftertaste. Roasted nuts taste throughout. A nice porter that was simple on the palate.

Tap. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small tight bubbled light brown head. The nose is chocolaty and roasty with a nice light hoppiness. The flavor is pretty solid, nice chocolate and light roast, a light sweetness. Medium bodied with a little cling and soft fizzy carbonation. Very solid Porter.

Aroma is not very strong here, but displays hints of roast and dark malts. Deep brown color with a stable tan head that drops to a thin film until the end of the glass. Deep sweetness with mild roast character and very light hop bitterness. The body is thinner than I like a porter to have, though still solid enough to satisfy. Finishes clean and has no lingering film on the palate. Luckily I had a 750, so I could see how the beer improves as it warms. Would probably be a great porter on a beer engine.

Really solid porter with all of the expected qualities. Dark mahogany pour with a creamy latte head. Cocoa, roasted coffee bean, vanilla, caramel, and toffee. Loads of malt and a thick, malt-like consistency. Nicely done!

Dark brown in color, with a pasty light brown head, this porter really isnt all that attractive in the nose. Theres a little spice and roast present, but otherwise its pretty empty. Its a little sweet in the mouth, like cane sugar, and is somewhat pleasant. Although Im unimpressed with this beer in general, its still pretty good. I just dont understand the hype.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thick black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of chocolate, roast, hints of coffee, hints of earth, spice, nice dark fruits, hints of slight nuts. Taste is a mix of dark chocolate, roast hints of earth, caramel, toffee, slight earth, spice, hints of oak and vanilla even though its not oak aged, touch of dark fruits, finishing slightly sweet, bitter, and dry.
