COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Speakeasy Ales and Lagers is happy to introduce Scarface Imperial Stout. A complicated brew – behind its fiercely black exterior is a mélange of subtly different roasted malt flavors that add nuance and depth to a style of beer that is too often heavy and one dimensional. To add a bit of roundness to the flavor we diverted about 20% of the brew into our Heaven Hill bourbon barrels, one of which we topped up with cacao nibs from our friends at local San Francisco organic chocolate makers, TCHO, for a period of oak-aging before blending it back into the primary batch. This is a special beer that reveals a little something different about itself every sip. Malts: American 2-row, Belgian Dark Caramel, French Coffee Malt, Chilean Black Malt and English Roasted Barley Hops: Columbus Alcohol by Volume: 9.5% 70 IBUs

Flaska på Muris! Doft av lakrits o svag sötma. Först råa kaffebönor sedan lakris sedan chokladtoner som avslutning. Bra beska för att vara stout. God o lång smak. Hyfsat o ok.

hackobock (4073) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 30, 2016
October 30, 2016. Bottle at home.
Black with a large frothy brown head. Aroma is roasted and malty with dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, hints of ink, ash, licorice, light notes of vanilla and molasses in the background. Taste is bitter, light sweet, roasted and malty. Quite bitter finish, slightly dry, with some ash and ink, cocoa and coffee, some grassy bitter hop notes, light malty sweetness with toffee and dark berries. Medium to full bodied, soft to average carbonation.
Solid imperial stout, a bit too bitter in the finish though.

Stor flaska delad på Bishops Arms, Örebro. Dryga året gammal. Svartbrun med nästan två fingrar högt beiget skum. Doft av toffee, choklad, mocca. Medelstor kropp. Hårt rostad, kärv. Saknar nästan lite sötma. Lite toffee, choklad, kaffe. Aningen för spretig och stickig.

Black pour under a thin khaki hued head. Big chocolate and roast and light clove/cinnamon tone almost like a Mexican chocolate cake, but sweeter and with a dose of milk chocolate. Rich flavor that’s bright and roasty, with loads of bittersweet dark chocolate, some kind of earthy spice, a little less spice and Mexican-like than the nose but there’s still something there--with a weirdly almost pineapple-like tone near the end. There’s something odd in there I can’t put my finger on, it’s not just boozy dark chocolate and roast malt with a hint of coffee. Hard to put my finger on. But it’s delightful nonetheless.

SlovakSniper (5561) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 19, 2016

[email protected] Malmö, Malmö (09/07/2016) - pours black with a tan head. Dark roasted malty aroma and taste with chocolate, coffee, caramel, burnt dark malty nuances, some vanilla, subtle bourbon nuance in the finish.
