Deep red with a small, creamy, off-white head.
Rye, slightly nutty caramel scent.....bread.
Sweet, bready caramel and rye flavor.
Slightly spicy, citric bittering.

Dark dark amber, appears almost black but has a nice clear ruby highlight around the edges; with a thin off white head. Nose is earthy and bready, with a spicy bit of rye, and a somewhat spicy bit of earthy caramel. Body is far too light for its own good, featuring a spicy bit of rye bread dough, earthy dry caramel malt, a light touch of amber sweetness, and a gentle bitterness throughout. Underwhelming to say the least. high_on_hops (809) - Burlingame, California, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Pours an amber red with a tan head and lacing. It has a mild aroma of amber malt and some rye with a flavor that is sweet malt throughout and a spicy rye background over a medium body.

12oz bottle pours with nice clear burnt amber brown body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up smooth fairly rich maltiness and nuttiness and malt roastiness with a little bit of dark fruity esteriness thinly ringing the experience. The taste has a similar feel to it as the nose with malts, roasted malts, a bit of nuttiness and then some cherry and slivers of ripe red apple. Behind those notes are thin layers of pine like hoppiness. This is pretty nice and malty and stays on the drinkable side of rich but a little too bold to be a sessionable ale in my opinion. Just nice flavor skoisirius (1908) - Earth, Washington, USA - JAN 21, 2014
Bottle. Nice and malty up front with some spicy hops in the middle. The rye is noticeable at the finish, but not overbearing. Good and sessionable with some thickness.

Aroma - is a combination of cereal, resin hops, and dough.
Appearance - it is a really dark red-brown, and has a white head that subsides rather quickly, with nice lacing.
Taste - taste is a medium bitter, full of hops and darker variety malts
Palate - feel is a light body with a light oily texture. The carbonation is average, with a bitter hoppy feel that does linger. shrubber85 (11710) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JAN 10, 2014
Bottle (courtesy of Ibrew2or3). Caramel and rye malt aroma. Dark brown with small head. Mildly sweet caramel malt, rye bread, and moderately bitter citrus peel flavor. Light body. Nice. drjay44 (3894) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JAN 7, 2014
Draft. Pours a minimal, poorly retained off white head, over a clear brownish red (SRM 25) body....nose is rye, hints cereal, minimal hops and esters.....taste is cereal, rye, ending with big rye spice, hints of rye bread, no esters, lingering bitterness.....mouth feel medium, light carbonation. This is a relatively simple beer, that is a bit heavy on the bitter finish. It obviously has rye. BJCP 7/3/13/4/6 Dorwart (2616) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - DEC 29, 2013
Thin frothy tan head of very fine bubbles. Roasted malt aroma with some smoked peat, black cherries and toast. Color is a very dark brown with good clarity. Dry and roasty flavor with more toast, roasted grains, dried flowers and some cough syrup. Mild alcohol presence. Finishes smooth, dry and slightly bitter. A decent brew. On tap. Clear light brown color with ivory head. Big toasted rye bread, nutty, mild chocolate aromas. Light body with average carbonation. Decent chewy rye toast flavors with mild nutty, chocolate flavors___nicely bitter finish---not bad.
