Notes from my backlog: Near black pour with a creamy tan film of head. Aroma is vinous, softly oay, currant and chocolate. Nice nose. Silky feel- flavor is vinous, slightly tart fruit presence. This beer appears a dark brown color with a small head that leaves little lacing. The aroma is very vinous, with a subtle roasted malt character. Zin Barrel Porter is complex and tasty, with the wine barrel being at the forefront of the flavors. There are some notes of chocolate and roasted malt in there as well, but the zin barrel pretty much dominates the taste. On tap at Blue Palm’s Second Anniversary. Listed as "Barrel Aged Ritual Payback Porter 2008". Not sure if this would be the right entry. Pours with a black body and a tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, chocolate, vanilla bean, light vegital component, anise, earthy and pepper. Taste is chocolate, lightly vegital, celery, roasty, licorice. Odd. Lively bubbles, lightly tannic. Tap at Rattle N Hum. Deep amber pour with a thick white head. The nose is pretty nice with a soft barrel earthiness/oakiness and a fairly distinct vineousness. A kiss of light fruit and a soft herbal back note as well. Not really tannic but it’s heavy in that direction. As it warms up the barrel really comes to the fore. A light fruity vineousness with a soft earthy cocoa character on the back. Leathery dryness on the back, despite all of the rich maltiness. Draft @ Rattle N Hum. Black pour with some tan head. Aroma is tart and of wine and roasted malts. Zinfandel, sourness, roasted, chocolate and caramel malt flavors. Similar to SFTO.

Draft at RnH in NYC with Andrew. The top beer sampled that day out of 11. Hands down, one of the best and most interesting porters. Pours a standard dark brown body. Aroma is roast and tart. A drying palate confuses my taste buds; with the grape and fruit flavors one would expect something sweet. The diverse spectrum of aromas just doesn’t work in the mouth.
Pretty wild, though not something I’d care too much to drink again.

En fût. Verre de 14 oz dégusté chez Rattle & Hum (New York, NY). Arôme: Odeur de torréfaction et de prunes. Apparence: La couleur est noire opaque. Présence d’un mince col beige mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de torréfaction et de chocolat avec une pointe fruité. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement onctueuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Arrière goût légèrement fruité. On tap at rattle n hum. Tons of red wine... This one most insane porters I have ever had. One of the best porter I’ve ever had. Ultra experimental and executed flawlessly. Sour and smokey, cherries and malt.
