Aroma: Medium spiciness, pear, Light banana.
Appearance: Very hazy, copper body with many fine particles. Small, white head, fair retention.
Flavour: Medium rich malt, Light banana-bread. Medium-light spiciness, herbal, floral. Very dry finish with lingering floral.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body, Medium carbonation. Slight warming.
Overall: Gushing over my setup is never a good start. The flavour is better than the aroma. The appearance and lacking aroma was a major let down. A good tasting beer.

12-ounce bottle pours cloudy orange with a 1" foamy off-white head. Nearly no lacing left behind as you drink down glass. Lots of yeast sediment in bottom of bottle; even carefully pouring into glass, there’s some that make it into the glass. I don’t have a problem with them (all the more vitamin B the better!), but if you’re weirded out by bits of yeast residue floating around your glass, then this beer’s not for you. Aroma is a medley of pear, white grapes, yeasty bread, banana and pineapple. Flavor is a mix of bubble gum, rock candy, fresh ripe plums, figs, dates, honey, toffee, hazelnuts, banana, clove and white and black pepper. Mouthfeel creamy, body is medium. Pours hazy orange color, topped with a frothy yellow-white head, foamy and slowly settling. Yeasty aroma with some notes of bananas and spices, some sweet notes, later on mostly spices. Finally getting to enjoy this delicacy I’ve been keeping in reserve since Christmas: this classic Belgian-style Trappist ale is an exceptional example of that style, with the unique addition of some slight American hops to give it a taste of the New World. Pours a radiant hazy golden-orange appearance, with lots of lacing and a foamy head that lasted throughout the entire glass. Aroma is a display of rich yeasty and fruity ester notes, great strong intensity on the nose. Over a slightly-carbonated medium-bodied texture, the flavor featured Belgian yeast, a refined "bubblegum" accent as befitting the style, candied fruit notes, some grainy malt and a subtle but present hoppiness. A specific hop type was not discernible to me, but did not strike me as an English or European variety. I thoroughly enjoyed the slightly bitter hop finish instead of a lingering boozy or yeasty sweetness that other Belgian ales exhibit. Overall an exceptional beer from an exceptional brewery, well-done!
