Bottled: Amber coloured. Quite clear. Beige medium sized head. Buttery and light smoked aroma. Smoked, fruity and sweet caramelly flavour. Full bodied. Is light smoked in the end. Quite good smoked beer with a little vague flavours and aromas. Like this.

I travelled for two days to drink this beer on the place. And it was worth it. To sit in the gasthaus and drink it lightly warmed to the food was perfect. It has a lightly smoke aroma and a lightly smoke flavor. To see them serve it from tap and warming it for two seconds with an immersion heater beats the most. And when you have drink it up you want a new immediately

i love green olives or anything smoked and this beer delivers a fine aftertaste if you like these things. better when served at 55 degrees. its not an everyday beer but when youre in the mood for it pays off.

After thoroughly enjoying the Aecht Schlenkerla rauchbiers, I was a bit disappointed in this beer. To me, the flavor of the Spezial is not so much "smoky" as it is "weird". It also seems a bit more hoppy than the Aecht Schlenkerla brews. Maybe I just need to try this one again, or have one with a nice big steak, but based on my first experience this beer just wasnt what I was looking for.

(bottle) Clear amber colour with a medium foamy slightly off-white head with nice lace. Malty aroma with a slight smoked note that becomes more prevalent in the flavour and a hint of berries (juniper). Bread-malty taste with well combined touch of smoked bacon and smooth smokemalty slightly bitter finish with a profound fruitiness. Great !

Bottle: Amber coloured, thin off-white, lasting head; distinctive smoky (bacon) nose with some traces of fruitiness (citrus) and also some hints of hops; initial sweetish maltiness ends in a quite complex finish: bitter, sweet, malty with some distinctive but soft traces of smoke; low carbonation; well drinkable: dont be afraid; if the first one is too odd, try a second one.........

Deep amber color body under a decent head that shows a hint of color. Smoky bacon aroma. The smoke is just about right in the flavor and comes mostly in the finish, letting the malt come to the front at the beginning. Nicely done and this would be especially good with many foods needing a counterpoint.

Thanks to IPFreely for this one. Nose is iodine, fishy. Kind of like a single malt and smoked whitefish - smells like breakfast at my grandparents. Flavor is sweet smokey malt, a hint of fish. Well hopped. Odd but nice. A little caramel in the finish. Id like to try more beers like this!

Medium amber color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is smoky malts and some fruitiness. The pure smoked aroma is there, but its not as noticeable as in some other Rauchbeirs (Think AS….) A medium bodied smoked beer. Malts are fruity and sweet. Touches of smoky malts, caramel and toffee. Kind of subtle, the smoky flavors kind of hide in the background and then come darting out and taunt you. There is also a very nice malt sweetness in this beer that really compliments the other flavors. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottle. Label says bottled on 02 09 04. Poured a small sized white head that mostly diminished, sparse lacing, fine-small sized bubbles, transparent, carbonated, and an orange hue. Malty, smokey aroma. Sweet, malty, smokey, watery and thin flavor. A mostly smooth, slightly tingly mouthfeel that was also watery, thin and dry. Light body.
