COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boris pours black and opaque like a moonless sky over Siberia. Eight different malts bring a complex aroma and flavor of chocolate, coffee and roasty sweetness. And just in case the winter gets too cold, we brewed this giant spider to 10% abv. So grab you snifter and ushanka and enjoy. ты был укушен

Tap at Barcade: Pours a near opaque with a deep khaki head. Big aroma of anise and dark cocoa- nice roast. Velvety body. Big deep malt character without being sweet or cloying. Deep roast and soft charred notes. Some anise and lots of unsweetened cocoa. Long finish. A nice stout.

Bottle from Premier Gourmet from a couple years back. Thick malt and roast, more sweet than bitter but still bitter. Nothing outstanding in aroma, would have liked a good roast and coffee nose. A solid beer though more middle of the pack in this great category.

12oz bottle. Pours black-brown with a minuscule tan head. Aroma is boozy with coffee and chocolate. Taste is chocolate with coffee, vanilla, and a little roast. Light sweetness. Bitter, roasty finish. Full body. Moderate carbonation. Thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Bottle. Coffee, chocolate/roasted barley malt and dry hay aroma. Oil black with nice brown head. Moderately sweet latte, chocolate malt, and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice body and balance. Tasty.

Sample at GABF 10/08/2016, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Inky black color with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually. Small patches of lace. Malt, chocolate and coffee aroma. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, coffee and fudge. The finish is roasty with a malt and coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Rating #2232 - 2015.12.08 - Bottle #8 in the 2015 Craft BeerAdvent Calendar Beautiful dark brown pour with a fairly foamy tan head with mild lacing. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, espresso. Taste is bubbly mouth feel, bold earth and coffee layered with hints of vanilla and chocolate. Decent earthy, roasty bitterness rounds out a superb IS.

Imperial stouts are a tough category since even the average are quite good. This one is better than average while still failing to rise above the crowd. Chocolate and coffee, not too sweet. Delicious but not exceptional.
