On tap at the Dutch. ONE with lunch...I had to drive and accomplish something today. Modrate yellow with a nice white frothy head. Nose of pine. Body is surprisingly light for a hefty brew. Elevated mouthfeel ends in pine heaven. Resin clad malts are subdued by hop presence. Plateau till finish. Nice with the grilled cheese. Pours a murky dark amber hue with almost a finger of tan head.
Resiny hops and citrus dominate the nose.
Grapefruit comes to the fore in the flavours allied to orange peel and pine a pretty good hop assault on this one.
Medium plus in body with a fairly bitter finish - I enjoyed this one a lot!
On tab in my basement. Had to bring upstairs because my basement still smells terrible because of my german shephard Sonny. He also likes spider bite, mom doesn’t know that I mix some Boris in with his kibble every day. Keeps him from getting too rowdy. blklab2007 (2120) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Anyways, back to the beer, I really like this beer. Not as Aromatic as some other IIpas I have had recently, but tastes really good and I really couldn’t tell at all that the ABV is higher than sayyyyy 6 ish? But its much higher, which is obviously a plus.
Not sure which "batch" number this is, but I’m sure its not the newest one considering I got it from Paul for a song and a dance.
Growler fresh today from decicco’s market. Pour has a red amber color with a thin covering of off white head. Aroma has caramel on the malted side, very green, grass, sticky sweetness, pine, and a poke of some herb like hop. I have really smelled this a while and I think that unique hop smell was also in another beer I have had from butternut. Perhaps it is a house flavor thing. Mouth feel is medium and there is good carbonation for a growler fill. Flavor has a malt side going on, caramel, medium bitterness, pine, resins, and again some herbs. Nice drinkable beer that is different than the rest of the crowd in the style. malrubius (3048) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - MAR 5, 2012
Growler from Garden City Bev Barn. Clear dark copper with beautiful head and lace. Grapefruit caramel cake aroma. Refined toasted caramel balanced with fruity citrus and citrus peel dry bitter finish. Perfectly balanced malts and hops. A serious work of art. A veteran beer drinker’s beer. Excellent.

Beautiful beer. The aroma is caramel up front, sweet fruit, citrus/grapefruit. The appearance is dark for this style, a copper/amber color, white head. The flavor is caramel, citrus, like grapefruit, some bread, pine. The finish is sweet, grapefruit bitter. Medium/thick in body. Excellent. bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - FEB 20, 2012
(Growler) Pours a cloudy golden orange body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of grain, caramel, grass, toffee, pine, subtle mint, and light butterscotch. Flavor of grass, caramel, herbs, pine, and citrus with a dry, bitter finish. beerbill (3618) - Laurel, New York, USA - FEB 18, 2012
Growler filled at Ronkonkoma Beverage and consumed the same day. Pours a rich, clear deep amber with a moderate-large off-white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left moderate lace. Very pleasant aroma of malt, caramel, resinous pine, grapefruit and orange. The flavor follows the aroma quite well and begins with a solid malt base of malt and caramel followed some resinous pine and citrus pith bitterness. A bit of cracker emerges at the finish. No sign of the 8.88% abv. Very enjoyable! BrooHa (121) - New York, USA - FEB 17, 2012
From growler station. Pours a deep, darkish copper. Very clear. Off-white head. Decent lacing. More malt forward in smell with a resinous hop character. A little sweet in the finish with residual bitterness and smackability. Interesting, lingering aftertaste. It’s Friday. It’s just what the doctor ordered. Great job!
