Named after the legend of Robert the Bruce and a very determined spider.  This malty ale has notes of dried dark fruits, cocoa, and just a hint of smoke. Never give up!

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2012 Swingtop bottle. First of all, just a delicious beer. Pours with a brown body and small head. Aroma is earthy sweetness, perfect mix. Flavor is similar, just the right dry earthy and nutty caramel. Perfectly medium-light body yet felt on the cheeks. IT almost sounds too simple but try to do it, I dare you.

Swing top growler shared by beastiefan2k - thanks, Eugene! - hazy purple - thick off white head that settles to a soapy lace - lovely nose of caramelized sugars, toffee, plum, a light bit of smoke, leather - soft carbonation, moderately creamy in the mouth - not as sweet as expected - opens with leafy bitterness and a light tartness - this is followed by complex earthy notes, light peat - some sweet notes of toffee and dark fruits follow - finishes with a touch of chocolate - a very well-executed wee heavy.

Growler filled at Ronkonkoma Beverage. Pours a clear deep red with a thin-moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of malt that is lightly sweet with a bit of dark brown sugar along with some mild peat. The flavor is very malt-forward, which I like, with ample malt that retains some residual sweetness, peat, and a little molasses. Mild bitterness at the finish. Medium-full bodied. Another winner!

Pouring at TAPNY. Pours a clear ruby brown with a large beige to white head. Sweet sticky malt, caramel on the nose. Sweet and malty, a good amount of dark fruit and some faint phenolics peeking through. Spicy yeast and a lingering sweetness. Toast and caramel on the finish.

Draught. Dark mahogany with nice reddish white head. Aroma is deep malt, caramel and light but forward buttery diacetyl that is complimentary and pleasant. Taste is cookie like sweetness. Lightish creamy body. A really pleasant and easy drinking classic scotch ale.

Growler from Beverage Barn Garden City. Clear dark reddish brown with nice lasting tan head and lace. Earthy peaty aroma with a hint of ripe cherries and chocolate. Toasted caramel malty sweet with some fruity and very ripe cherry some nuts and medium bitter peaty woody and sweet finish that lingers in the throat. Full body. Fairly slick and thick. Tastes like the real thing. Nice balance. Falls just short of being too sweet. Excellent.
