Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color; creamy head. Very nice roasted malt and coffee aroma. Lean body, but the mouthfeel is round enough; good dark caramel flavor, with hints of roasted malts and chocolate; correct bitterness level. Better flavor than other heavily roasted beers, but also not fruity-hop oriented.
Very pleasant.

On tap at Spinnakers, pours a cloudy dark reddish brown with a small beige head - doesn’t look like a CDA. Aroma brings out light diacetyl, along with toasted malt and a touch of hoppy bitterness. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, piney hops and some diacetyl. Looks bad, smells pretty off and tastes similar. Not a total disaster, but certainly needs some work.

Red-tinged med brown. The aroma is malty, mostly nutty, rather like a rich, strongish brown ale. Fairly big body, malty, woody, nutty palate with a touch of earthy bitterness. Not a bad beer, actually, just think of it as a nice brown ale.

Bottle shared by Puzzl at Paul’s. Pours reddish amber. Off white head. Nose and taste of berry fruit, roast grain, light resin hop and malt. Medium body.

Bottle shared at Paul’s housewarming tasting. Pours a deep brown with a thin white head. Coffee on the nose, a little hops and earth. Medium-bodied, cocoa, roast. Light chocolate hints with some cocoa and roast. Finishes with a touch of bitterness. Decent enough.

Tap @ brewpub. Amber orange appearance with an off white head. Slightly roasty, soapy, hoppy nose. Low carbonation. Toasty, mild to moderate earthy hoppy, toffee malty flavor. Disappointing.

DuffMan (10451) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 3, 2010
Bottle, purhased and enjoyed @ Spinakers while watching NFL Sunday. Dark mahogany with lovely ruby highlights. Earthy dark toffee and leafy hop aroma. Dark toffee, hints of roast, earthy/loamy hop character, hints of fruits. Not a great deal of cascade in here. Medium bitter finish.

solidfunk (9017) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Some hops, piney style. Some sour malt in finish. Lacing good, clear dark brown with good head. Creamy texture. Ok, but nothing too hardcore. English take on BIPA. On tap at brewpub.
